The Jets wrapped a six-game road trip on a losing note on Tuesday, dropping a narrow 2-1 decision to Nashville. However, they have dominated on home ice, averaging four goals per game while winning five straight. The Sabres have been equally dominant during an impressive run on the road that has helped lift them into striking distance of a playoff spot. Winners in their past four overall, the Sabres are coming off a 5-3 win in St. Louis on Tuesday, and have now won eight of 10 on the road.

Despite producing middling results on their recent road trip, the Jets are perched as -186 home favourites on the NHL odds for Thursday’s contest, while the Sabres trail as +155 underdogs. The total is pegged at 6.5, with the OVER slightly favoured as a -115 bet.

Thursday night’s matchup at Canada Life Centre marks the second and final regular season meeting between these clubs. The Jets posted a 4-2 victory when they visited Buffalo on January 12, and have topped the Sabres in six of nine head-to-head clashes. However, the road team has earned the win the last three times these teams have met.

With the Sabres tallying two or fewer goals in six of their past seven dates with Winnipeg, the UNDER enjoys a steady 6-1 run when these teams meet.

Buffalo Sabres

With Tuesday’s victory over the Blues, the Sabres have now earned the win in 11 of their past 14 away contests. Buffalo marched to an early 3-0 lead over the Blues, which they would not relinquish, extending their current overall win streak to four games. The Sabres’ recent surge has lifted them into the playoff hunt in the Eastern Conference, where they now trail both Pittsburgh and Washington by just three points in the race for a wild card spot.

Overall, the Sabres 17 total goals during their four-game surge, and have scored at least four goals in seven of their past nine victories. Tage Thompson has continued to provide the offensive spark, picking up eight points during a five-game points streak, capped by a three-point performance on Tuesday night.

Winnipeg Jets

The Jets struggled at times during their recent road trip, losing three of five contests, have been big producers during a four-game win streak on home ice, averaging four goals per game. However, they must shake off the defensive lapses that marked their recent road trip.

Overall, the club has failed to score more than two goals in four of their past six overall contests. While that has helped fuel a 6-1-1 run for the UNDER in their past eight games, it creates concerns over how will they can keep pace with a Sabres offence currently firing on all cylinders. That will add to the pressure on workhorse goaltender Connor Hellebuyck, who deserved a better fate after making 39 saves in Tuesday’s defeat, but currently rides a fur-game win streak on home ice.
