The Bruins are coming off a decisive 6-3 victory over Montreal on Sunday and have seized third place in the Atlantic while winning four of their past six contests. The Red Wings open a brief two-game road trip riding a two-game losing streak after dropping back-to-back 5-4 decisions to New Jersey and Vancouver last weekend but remain just four points back of Boston with two games in hand going into Tuesday’s NHL betting action.

The surging Bruins lead the way as -190 favourites on the Tuesday NHL odds. The Red Wings trail as +155 underdogs and the total is listed at just 5.5.

Red Wings vs. Bruins NHL Betting Odds

Tuesday night’s matchup marks the second of three scheduled meetings this season between these century-old rivals. The Bruins skated to a narrow 2-1 victory in Detroit on November 23 to extend their head-to-head win streak to two games and have also topped the Red Wings in three of their past four dates at TD Garden.

Recent meetings between these clubs have tended to be high scoring, with the total reaching 7.0 in four of their past six, spawning a 4-2 run for the OVER in totals betting. However, the Bruins have effectively shut down opponents during their 4-2-0 run, allowing just 1.83 goals per game and have given up more than three goals just once in their past 10 home dates with the UNDER going 7-2-1 over that stretch.

Conversely, the Red Wings have given up 10 total goals over their past two games after allowing just six total markers during a preceding 3-1-0 run and have been lit up for at least four goals three times during a 1-2-1 run on the road.

Detroit Red Wings

The Red Wings’ 25th-ranked offence has shown signs of busting out while scoring 14 total goals over the past four games. The club has received contributions from up and down the lineup, with eight different shooters finding the back of the net over the past two contests.

That production by committee has been timely considering the team’s leading goal-getter, Dylan Larkin, has bulged the twine just once in his past six outings. Lucas Raymond has helped fill the void. The 22-year-old saw a five-game goal scoring streak end in Sunday’s loss to Vancouver but still contributed a pair of helpers in that effort. Raymod has now racked up 21 points in his past 18 outings and leads all players in this contest on the Tuesday NHL player props as a short -225 bet to record at least one point on Tuesday.

However, with injuries sidelining both Cam Talbot and Alex Lyon, the Red Wings will once again turn to Ville Husso, who has yet to win while compiling a dismal 4.90 goals against average and .818 save percentage in three appearances this season.

Boston Bruins

After stumbling to an 8-9-3 start that ultimately cost head coach Jim Montgomery his job, the Bruins appear to have snapped out of their early-season funk with improved performances on both sides of the puck. In addition to limiting opponents to just 11 total goals during their current 4-2-0 run, the Bruins have scored six goals in two of their past three games, ending a 16-game stretch during which they averaged just 1.94 goals per game.

Veterans Charlie Coyle and Charlie McAvoy led the attack with two markers each in Sunday’s win over the Habs. While McAvoy’s outburst snapped a near three-week long scoring drought, Coyle has now scored four times in his past five home appearances.

David Pastrnak added to his team lead with his ninth goal of the season in Sunday’s win but has mustered just three total goals in 17 games since October 26.
