New York Rangers vs. Ottawa Senators Prediction, NHL Odds

The Rangers arrive in Ottawa riding a three-game win streak after topping San Jose by a 6-5 score on Sunday, and are currently knotted with Boston and Vegas atop the NHL standings with 37 points. The Senators snapped a three-game slide with Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Seattle, but have seen their offensive struggles continue while scoring just eight total goals outside of the shootout over the past five games.

The Rangers lead the way as attractive -135 road favourites on the Tuesday NHL odds, and are a +180 bet on the puckline. The Senators trail as +110 underdogs, and -120 odds favour the total finishing UNDER 6.5.

Rangers vs. Senators NHL Betting Odds

The Rangers enter Tuesday’s action as the most reliable bet in the NHL this season after recording just five total defeats through their first 23 games, and now lead the way as slim +425 favourites to claim this season’s Presidents Trophy. New York has been particularly dominant on the road, compiling an NHL-best 10-3-1 record, and has allowed just four total goals during its current three-game road win streak. The Rangers have also enjoyed consistent success when visiting Ottawa, where they have limited the Senators to just a single goal three times while winning four of their past five. However, the Sens have held the edge in their most recent dates with the Rangers, posting road wins back in March, and in December of last year.

New York Rangers

With Sunday’s narrow victory over the Kraken, the Rangers have now suffered just two losses in regulation over their past 29 games. But while this team continues to find ways to win, those victories have increasingly come by the narrowest of margins. New York has seen five of its past six wins come by just a single goal, and the team has shown cracks in their defensive armour while allowing 3.80 goals per game over their past five contests.

Tuesday’s expected starting goaltender Igor Shesterkin has struggled to find his groove in his recent return from injury. Shesterkin has taken the loss in two of five outings, and has surrendered at least three goals in four of six appearances. However, Shesterkin has had to make do with little defensive support while facing 37 or more shots in three of his past four outings. The Russian net minder could also benefit from greater goal support after seeing New York shooters score more than three goals just once in his past eight appearances. Offensive production has not been a problem for Artemi Panarin, who scored three goals and added an assists versus the Kraken, and has compiled nine points in five games.

Ottawa Senators

Losers in seven of their past nine on home ice, the Senators face the daunting task of rekindling their offence against the top team in the Eastern Conference. Ottawa shooters have averaged just 24 shots on goal in their past two home dates, and have managed to score more than two goals just four of nine dates at Canadian Tire Centre. Goaltender Joonas Korpisalo has particularly struggled while allowing 13 total goals over his past three starts.

Brady Tkachuk has remained the team leader on this offensively challenged squad, and his 11 goals make him the only Sens shooter so far to reach double digits in goals. Tkachuk has scored just once in his past five games. However, he has been a steady producer versus New York, recording five goals and five assists during a five-game points streak, and is a +130 bet on the NHL player props to find the back of the net on Tuesday.
