The battle for the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings heats up on Wednesday night, when the Toronto Maple Leafs play host to the New York Rangers in NHL betting action at Scotiabank Arena.

The Maple Leafs picked up a rare late-season win on Tuesday night, claiming a narrow 4-3 decision in Boston. Overall, the Leafs have won just three of 15 games since returning from the Olympic break, leaving them buried at the bottom of the Atlantic Division standings, just eight points up on New York in the race for last place in the East.

The Rangers arrive in Toronto in the wake of Monday’s 2-1 loss to Ottawa that extends their latest losing streak to five games, but have earned the win in three of their past four road contests.

The Rangers have emerged as slender -120 road favourites on Wednesday’s NHL odds. The Leafs trail as +100 underdogs on the NHL moneyline, and the total is pegged at 6.0.

Rangers vs. Maple Leafs NHL Betting Odds

These Original Six rivals split a pair of matchups earlier this season, capped by the Rangers’ 6-2 rout of the Leafs at Madison Square Garden on March 5 that snapped a three-game head-to-head losing streak. However, it has been over five years since the Blueshirts last recorded consecutive wins over Toronto, with the Leafs claiming two points in seven of their past 10 meetings.

While victories over the Leafs have been rare, when the Rangers do win, they win big, with each of their past three head-to-head triumphs coming by an average margin of 3.33 goals. Overall, the Leafs have struggled to score when facing New York, tallying just 10 total goals over their past five dates, giving a narrow 3-2-0 edge to the UNDER in their past five clashes.

That middling offensive production extends to Toronto’s current late-season swoon. The club has averaged just 2.46 goals per game while losing 12 of 15, while getting rocked for 3.87 goals per game, but are undefeated over that stretch when scoring more than three goals.

The Rangers have also been offensively challenged during their five-game slide, but have managed to find the mark on the road, averaging 4.5 goals per game over their past six.

New York Rangers

The Rangers were thoroughly dominated in Monday’s 2-1 loss to the visiting Senators, mustering just 10 shots on goal in the loss. Overall, the Rangers have managed to score just six total even-strength goals in regulation during their losing streak, and have been outshot by an average margin of 13.6 shots over the past five games. Not surprisingly, the club has held a lead for a total of less than 10 minutes during their current slide.

Ty Kertye has emerged as one of the fewer productive Rangers skaters, picking up a point in each of the past two games and nine points in his past 10 outings. New York’s top gun Mika Zibanejad accounted for three of the club’s 10 shots versus Ottawa while seeing a four-game points streak end in that contest, but has tallied six goals and eight assists in his past 11 games, a run that started with a three-point night in the Rangers’ win over Toronto earlier this month.

Toronto Maple Leafs

The Leafs top producers finally stepped up in Tuesday’s convincing victory in Boston. William Nylander remained the catalyst with the game-winning goal and an assist and has averaged a point per game in 12 contests this month, and has piled up 18 points in his past 12 home appearances.

Matthew Knies snapped a three-game drought with a pair of goals while John Tavares put his playmaking skills on display with a trio of helpers to extend his current points streak to three games. However, Matias Maccelli has cooled off after a torrid start to 2026, failing to make the scoresheet in two straight games after averaging a point per game over his previous 10 outings.
