The Toronto Maple Leafs look to close out a season-opening four-game home stand on a winning note when they host the Nashville Predators on Tuesday night in NHL betting action at Scotiabank Arena. Juuse Saros proved to be the difference in Saturday’s victory over Dallas. The Predators netminder turned aside 29 of the 30 shots he has faced and sports an impressive .933 save percentage through two games. Steven Stamkos and Nils Höglander scored in that contest, while Ryan O’Reilly contributed at both ends, setting up a goal while leading all forwards in penalty kill time. O’Reilly trailed only Filip Forsberg last season with 74 points, while Stamos is coming off a 42-point campaign. However, Forsberg has yet to score but set up Roma Josi’s lone goal to date. Indeed, the Predators must be better at generating scoring chances and take the pressure off Saros after recording just 46 total shots through their first two games, and have yet to score in the final 20 minutes.
Toronto Maple Leafs
Saturday’s game against the Senators was probably the Leafs’ most revealing contest to date. Auston Matthews finally scored his first goal of the season, while Kirill Marchenko potted his first as a Leaf, on the power play, and Darren Raddysh collected his first point since joining the Buds during the offseason. William Nylander continued to roll with his first assist of the season and has now tallied three points in three games, joining Easton Cowan and Morgan Rielly at the top of the team stats. But once again the club struggled to close the deal, blowing an early lead for the second time in three contests and failing to find the mark after 40 minutes for the second time in as many outings. The club has not helped their cause by taking multiple third-period penalties in each of their contests to date, and surrendered seven total shots while shorthanded versus the Sens.
