Panthers vs. Stars NHL Betting Odds

In their two-game season series last year, the Panthers held off the Stars twice, claiming 5-4 and 4-3 wins. Both meetings smashed the OVER set at 6.0 goals and Florida captain Aleksander Barkov led the series with five points (3G, 2A). Dallas has covered the spread in five of their last six meetings with the Cats, despite just two wins in that set.

The Panthers have been in some high scoring contests this season, playing the OVER in eight of their 11 games. Their offence is clicking at a respectable 3.45 goals per game pace, but their goaltending is where they need more consistency. They are giving up 3.2 goals per game, with both netminders having sub .900 save percentages.

Lights out is the only way to describe Dallas’ defence through their first nine games. Giving up just 1.89 goals per game has led them to a 2-6-2 record on the OVER/UNDER putting themselves in a tie for the most games to the UNDER.

Florida Panthers

The Panthers are heading overseas on a three-game heater after sweeping a road trip through New York that ended in Buffalo on Monday. The Cats pounced on the Sabres early, going up 2-0 in the first on goals from Jesper Boqvist (2) and Sam Reinhart (7) with the man advantage. The Sabres tied things up in the second, but Florida scored three straight goals, capped off by Barkov’s first of the season, for a 5-2 win.

European players almost never get to play in their home country but that will be the case for four of the Panthers on Friday. Barkov, Anton Lundell, Eetu Luostarinen and defenceman Niko Mikkola will all be playing in Finland for the first time since moving to North America for the NHL. Expect the Fins to make the most of an opportunity that may not come around again.

Dallas Stars

After back-to-back wins, the Stars are four points out of first place in the Central Division, which they won last season. The Stars have not played in a week so they should have enough time to work off the jet lag. In their last outing, they dodged a bullet versus the Chicago Blackhawks, nearly blowing a 3-0 lead. The Hawks rallied in the third, netting in a pair of goals before Matt Duchene put his second of the game, sixth of the campaign, into the empty net, sealing the 4-2 win.

The Stars lineup has three Fins who are all looking for a spark this season in Esa Lindell, Miro Heiskanen and Roope Hintz. Heiskanen could especially use a shake-up in his game with just three assists this season.
