Panthers vs. Senators Prediction: NHL Betting Odds
It’s a case of too little too late, but the Ottawa Senators are playing some of their best hockey of the NHL season. Florida rolls into Canada’s capital on the heels of a 6-1 defeat at Montreal on Tuesday night. The result made it three straight losses and five setbacks in the club’s last six trips to the rink.
Panthers vs Senators Betting Analysis
The Panthers have allowed six or more goals in three straight contests and the Over is 5-0 in their last five games and 8-2 in their last 10. The Over has cashed in 44 of the Cats’ 77 games this season. Only the Chicago Blackhawks have been a better Over bet this season for NHL total players.
Florida is 0-4 straight up in its last away games and the Over is 21-8-2 in the team’s last 31 road dates. The Panthers have won two of the three meetings against the Senators this season, but lost 3-2 at home to them earlier this month.
Ottawa is coming off a 4-0 home win over the Buffalo Sabres. The Sens improved to 4-2 in their last six games with all the wins coming as plus-money picks. An Ottawa backer would be up $550 (5.5 units) if they backed their club in each of the last six games.
Florida Panthers
For the 16th time in 19 years, the Panthers aren’t going to the playoffs. The club is 12 points back of eighth place in the Eastern Conference with just five games left. And while another year without postseason play is a depressing reality for South Florida hockey fans, they can at least be excited about next year.
The 2018-19 campaign could be the breakout year for Panther forward Jonathan Huberdeau. He was touted as a possible franchise saviour when Florida selected him with the third pick in the 2011 NHL draft.
He improved each year but not at the pace that some had hoped. Everything seems to be coming together for the 25-year-old now in his sixth season in the pros. Huberdeau has 84 points (25 goals, 59 assists) in 77 games.
Ottawa Senators
The Sens have their own building block of the future despite trading away most of their big-name players this season. Defenceman Thomas Chabot has four helpers in his last four games and has seen his season point total rise to 52 in 64 games.
