New Jersey comes into the trek ranked third in the NHL in goals per game, making it no surprise that the Devils have eight wins in 10 games to open the campaign. But the Canucks are no slouch themselves, with four wins and an overtime loss over their previous five games.

Oddsmakers give the Canucks a minor edge in this battle between one of the league’s most prolific attacks and one of the NHL’s top defensive units. Vancouver allows the third-fewest goals per game and has been downright stingy of late, surrendering just seven goals over its five-game point streak. Vancouver has the edge in cross-conference play; it has won four of its last five against the East, while New Jersey is 3-8 in its last 11 vs. West foes.

You know you’re on a special run when you go 6-3-2 in your first 11 games despite having Derek Dorsett as your leading goal-scorer in that span. But the Canucks have been getting measurable contributions from a number of sources – including rookie Brock Boeser, who leads the team with nine points in eight games. But Boeser is considered questionable for this one after sitting out Monday’s loss to Dallas with a foot injury.
