New Jersey Devils vs. Vancouver Canucks: NHL Odds, Prediction
The New Jersey Devils’ newfound offensive display will be put to the test Wednesday night as they kick off a three-game Western Canada trek against the Vancouver Canucks. New Jersey comes into the trek ranked third in the NHL in goals per game, making it no surprise that the Devils have eight wins in 10 games to open the campaign. But the Canucks are no slouch themselves, with four wins and an overtime loss over their previous five games.

NHL Odds and Betting Analysis
Oddsmakers give the Canucks a minor edge in this battle between one of the league’s most prolific attacks and one of the NHL’s top defensive units. Vancouver allows the third-fewest goals per game and has been downright stingy of late, surrendering just seven goals over its five-game point streak. Vancouver has the edge in cross-conference play; it has won four of its last five against the East, while New Jersey is 3-8 in its last 11 vs. West foes.
Two thirds of Sports Interaction bettors have sided with the Devils, who have won the last five meetings in the head-to-head series. On the totals side of the betting ledger, 70 percent of bettors are on side with the over-5.5 play. The Devils have played 10 overs in their past 12 games following a victory, while the Canucks have exceeded the total in five of their last six contests after scoring two or fewer goals in their previous game.
New Jersey Devils
While much of the focus in New Jersey has been on No. 1 pick Nico Hischier, there’s another rookie in the fold who has been even better so far. Defenceman Will Butcher has provided a playmaking element from the back end, racking up a team-high 11 assists through the first 10 games of his career. New Jersey hopes his continued success will help them halt a trend that has seen them win just 14 of their last 51 games against teams with winning records.
Vancouver Canucks
You know you’re on a special run when you go 6-3-2 in your first 11 games despite having Derek Dorsett as your leading goal-scorer in that span. But the Canucks have been getting measurable contributions from a number of sources – including rookie Brock Boeser, who leads the team with nine points in eight games. But Boeser is considered questionable for this one after sitting out Monday’s loss to Dallas with a foot injury.
