Maple Leafs vs. Kraken NHL Odds, Prediction and Picks: Toronto Looks to Bounce Back in Seattle
The Maple Leafs continue their four-game road trip Wednesday night with the only United States stop on it in the Pacific Northwest at much-improved Seattle. The Kraken are short +100 underdogs on the NHL odds with a total of 6.5 goals.
Maple Leafs vs. Kraken NHL Betting Odds
Seattle has not found instant success in the NHL like the previous expansion team Vegas did as the Kraken have made the playoffs just once and not since 2023. They finished with only 79 points last season under first-year coach Lane Lambert, a Saskatchewan native who once played for the Nordiques, but look much better so far this campaign and are contending in the Pacific Division.
Still not sure Seattle has a true No. 1 goalie between Joey Daccord and Philipp Grubauer to actually make noise in the West. The team is +210 to reach the playoffs.
Toronto had won seven of the first eight in this series but was swept last season, including 5-2 in Seattle. Shane Wright (3G, 1A) led the Kraken with four points in the series and Chandler Stephenson (3A) had three. Daccord won both in net and surrendered five goals on 61 shots. Morgan Rielly (2G), William Nylander (2A) and John Tavares (2G) led Toronto with two points each. Anthony Stolarz was in net for both, giving up eight goals on 49 shots.
Toronto Maple Leafs
Toronto is 1-1 on this four-game trip after seeing an overall four-game winning streak snapped with a 5-2 upset loss in Calgary on Monday. The Leafs at least made it interesting down 3-0 in the second thanks to goals from Easton Cowan (sixth of season) in the second and William Nylander (ninth) in the third. But the Flames added two empty-net goals. Auston Matthews had an assist to reach 800 career points in his 703rd career game. Matthews became the second-fastest U.S.-born player to reach 800 career points behind Pat LaFontaine, who did to in his 664th game on March 31, 1993.
Toronto already has a laundry list of guys out injured and forward Kirill Marchenko left Monday’s game and unable to return. The trade acquisition has been great with six goals and eight helpers. Sergei Bobrovsky was in net Monday, so good chance it’s Anthony Stolarz here. The American is 4-1-0 with a 2.80 GAA and .907 SV.
Seattle Kraken
This closes a four-game homestand for Seattle, which is 2-1 on it following a 5-1 loss to a good Minnesota team on Saturday as the Wild extended their point streak against the Kraken to seven games. Berkly Cotton had his third goal of the year for Seattle. Joey Daccord allowed four goals on 35 shots as his struggles continued this season. Probably Philipp Grubauer (4-1-1, 2.77 GAA, .907 SV) on Wednesday. The Kraken were without one of their top forwards Saturday in Jared McCann, and he will now miss a good 10 weeks after being placed on injured reserve. The winger is sixth on the team with eight points (3G, 5A). Kaapo Kakko returned to the top line with McCann’s absence, and Kakko leads the team with 10 points (2G, 8A).
