Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Vegas Golden Knights Prediction, NHL Odds
The Golden Knights are coming off a frustrating 2-1 loss to Chicago, and have managed to cling to first place in the divisional standings despite losing three of their past four, all on home ice. The Maple Leafs travel to Sin City after opening a six-game road trip with a stunning 5-4 overtime loss in Colorado that put the brakes on a high-scoring four-game win streak.
The Maple Leafs have made steady gains on the Tuesday NHL odds since this matchup opened as a virtual pick’em. The Leafs have vaulted to -128 favourites, backed by 65% of sports bettors. Conversely, the Golden Knights will hit the ice as home underdogs for the first time in almost two months after dipping to a +107 bet. The total has held steady since opening at 6.0, with the UNDER slightly favoured at -114.
Maple Leafs vs. Golden Knights NHL Betting Odds
Tuesday night’s matchup at T-Mobile Arena marks the second of two scheduled meetings between these clubs this season. The Maple Leafs romped to a 4-0 victory when the Golden Knights visited Scotiabank Arena on November 2, and have claimed victory in five of seven all-time head-to-head meetings. But they have not fared so well when visiting Vegas, where they have lost two of three all-time. These teams have combined to score at least six total goals on four previous occasions. But low scoring has been commonplace during a 3-0 run for the UNDER, with just 13 total goals getting scored over their past three clashes. In contrast, the Leafs averaged five goals per game during their recent win streak, and have seen the OVER pay out in eight of their past 11. The Vegas offence has struggled of late, scoring three or fewer goals on four occasions during a 2-3-1 run on home ice.
Toronto Maple Leafs
The Leafs are on the rebound after blowing an early 3-0 lead in Saturday night’s loss to the surging Avalanche. That loss was the team’s first of the season when leading after 40 minutes, and also represents the third time in four road outings that they have allowed at least four goals. The bright spot for Toronto was the continued strong play of Auston Matthews. The reigning Maurice Richard Trophy winner has now scored in seven straight road games, and has also tallied multiple goals in two of three previous appearances in Vegas.
Vegas Golden Knights
The Golden Knights have sorely missed Max Pacioretty, who remains sidelined indefinitely following recent wrist surgery. Pacioretty racked up 12 goals in 16 appearances before suffering his latest injury, and the club has now lost three of five since he landed on the IR. Overall, the Golden Knights have compiled a middling 8-6-1 home record this season without Pacioretty in the lineup. Netminder Robin Lehner has surrendered four goals on three occasions while losing three of his past six starts versus Toronto. However, Lehner has also compiled a sparkling .937 save percentage while facing an average of 39.5 shots per game over that stretch.
