Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Boston Bruins Prediction, NHL Odds

The Toronto Maple Leafs are not showing much fight at this point as they carry a three-game losing streak into Tuesday’s Original Six matchup at likely playoff-bound Boston. The Bruins are -205 on the NHL odds with a total of 6.5.

Maple Leafs vs. Bruins NHL Betting Odds

At this point, it’s not whether Toronto will miss the playoffs because it absolutely will, but whether the Maple Leafs finish with the fewest points in the Eastern Conference to slightly improve their chances of winning the NHL draft lottery. But the probably won’t “catch” the New York Rangers for that.

It was thought perhaps that Boston was headed for a bit of a rebuilding period (like the Leafs clearly are) entering this season considering the Bruins missed the 2025 postseason and are under a new head coach in Marco Strum. But Sturm has done a great job and might get some votes for the Jack Adams Award for NHL coach of the year but won’t win it. Barring a collapse, the Bruins should at least be one of the East’s Wild-Card teams and are -225 for extra hockey with No at +185.

This is the third and final matchup of the season, and we may have to expect a 5-3 final score as the Bruins swept the Leafs in a home-and-home in November by that score. Star David Pastrnak (3G, 1A) leads Boston with four points in the series, and Jeremy Swayman was in net for both. Morgan Rielly (3A) leads Toronto with three points with both Anthony Stolarz and Dennis Hildeby taking a loss in net.

The Bruins are 7-3 in the past 10 meetings overall, with the over-under 6-4.

Toronto Maple Leafs

Toronto was dominated 5-2 in Ottawa on Saturday in a third straight loss and about the only bright spot was John Tavares scoring his 519th career goal to pass Dale Hawerchuk for 41st place on the NHL’s all-time list. Easton Cowan assisted on that and also found the net for the first multi-point game of his NHL career. Anthony Stolarz was expected to start in the second of a back-to-back but took a puck to the throat during warmups, so Joseph Woll went again.

But Stolarz has been cleared to play, so it may be his turn Tuesday. He played great in his last start in a March 15 upset win at Minnesota but has been below-average overall at 8-9-3 with a 3.34 GAA and .894 SV. Top blueliner Morgan Rielly (33 points) sat Saturday and is day-to-day with an undisclosed injury. The Leafs may just start shutting guys like Rielly down. Toronto is 1-7 in its past eight on the road.

Boston Bruins

Boston got a huge two points for its playoff hopes in a 4-2 win at Detroit on Saturday, rallying from down 2-1 about six minutes into the third. David Pastrnak had a goal and assist and hit a few milestones. He became the sixth Czech player in NHL history to reach the 500-assist mark career, tied Patrice Bergeron (66) for the fourth-most game-tying goals in Bruins history and scored his 132nd career power-play goal to pass Bergeron for fourth most in franchise history.

American Jeremy Swayman is having a terrific year in net and won Saturday, but the last time he started three in a row as he has currently it was backup Joonas Korpisalo’s turn. The Finn is a downgrade at 11-9-4 with a 3.30 GAA overall, but the Bruins have every reason Tuesday to care and the Leafs none. Boston is 14-1 in its past 15 home games.
