Kraken vs. Canadiens NHL Betting Odds

Tuesday will be the seventh meeting all-time between the Kraken and the Canadiens. Each team has won three games in their six meetings, with Montreal taking both meetings last year by scores of 5-1 and 4-2. The total has never hit higher than six goals putting their head-to-heads at 4-2 to the OVER.

Like last season, Seattle has not been much of an offensive threat out of the gate. They have been held to two or fewer goals in five of their nine games, averaging just three per game. They are 4-5 on the OVER/UNDER, playing the UNDER in three of their past four.

The Habs played the OVER in both of theirs the weekend, bumping their record to 6-3 on the O/U line this season. Their defensive play has been shaky to open the season, allowing over 3.5 goals per game, ninth highest in the league.

Seattle Kraken

The Kraken had a tough week, with three straight losses on home ice. They came up a goal short on Tuesday versus the Avalanche and again on Thursday against the Jets, before hosting the Carolina Hurricanes, who stomped them 4-1 on Saturday.

Jared McCann scored his lone goal on Saturday, his fifth of the year assisted by Matty Beniers. This duo has been carrying the load for Seattle offensively over the past week with a combined eight points in three games. McCann has been the Kraken’s star player since their inauguration and is leading the squad with 12 points (5G, 7A) and riding a six-game point streak. Beniers took a step back in his sophomore season last year after taking home Rookie of the Year one year prior. The 21-year-old is looking to be heating up with four points in the past two games, after just one in the first seven.

There is a battle for the starting job in the Seattle crease, but Joey Daccord seems to have taken an edge over Philipp Grubauer after starting back-to-back games. Although Daccord did lose both of those games his stats are still a bit better than his partners. Tuesday’s starter has yet to be confirmed.

Montreal Canadiens

The Canadiens’ two-game win streak put them right back into the log-jammed Atlantic Division with nine points, making it a four-way tie for fourth place, just two points out of third.

Sunday night’s 4-3 win over the Philadelphia Flyers wound up being a much closer game than it needed to be, as the Habs almost blew a 4-1 lead in the third, allowing two goals in the final 2:12 of the game. Nick Suzuki’s third of the season opened the scoring midway through the first, extending his point streak to seven and his team lead in points to 11. Montreal scored three in the second period, sucking the life out of the home crowd. Jake Evans (2) and Brendan Gallagher (3) scored at even strength, while Cole Caufield stayed red-hot notching his eighth of the campaign on the powerplay.

23-year-old Caufield has goals in back-to-back games and is second in the league with eight goals. At this rate he will, be the first Canadiens player to score 50 goals since the 1970’s.
