The Kings opened their current four-game road trip with a decisive 4-1 win in Toronto on Tuesday night, and have now averaged 5.40 goals per game during their current road surge. The Senators hope to start the post-Pierre Dorion era on a winning note. The club has been idle since rolling to a 5-2 win in Pittsburgh on Saturday night, but has been outscored by an 11-6 margin in back-to-back home defeats.
The Kings arrive in the nation’s capital perched as slender -115 favourites on the Thursday NHL odds, while Ottawa trails as a -105 bet, and the total is listed at 6.5.

The Kings wasted no time jumping out to an early 2-0 lead in Toronto on Tuesday, and never looked back, on their way to a fourth straight road win. Overall, the Kings have earned at least a point in seven of their nine games to date, and sit among the league leaders with 4.33 goals per game. Kevin Fiala continued his playmaking ways with his 11th assist of the season in Tuesday’s win and has now recorded all 12 of his points to date during an eight-game points streak. Trevor Moore has cooled off since netting five times in his first six games but has made up for his lack of scoring by contributing helpers in two of the past three games, and has recorded at least a point in five straight road contests.
Ottawa Senators
It has been a tough week for the Senators, who have struggled both on and off the ice. In addition to their current 1-3 slide, the Senators were also forced to forfeit a future first-round draft pick due to a botched trade last season. The club was subject to further distractions on Wednesday with the firing of GM Pierre Dorion for his negligent role in that debacle.
The Sens will now try to get past this week’s bad news with more consistent play. The team followed up a three-game win streak with three straight losses before Saturday’s success and scored 5.25 goals per game in their four wins while allowing 4.75 goals per game in their four defeats. Brady Tkachuk produced his third two-goal game of the season in Saturday’s win, and the Sens are undefeated this season when he scores, and leading scorer Tim Stutzle has potted two goals and four points during a three-game points streak.
