It’s too little, too late, but the Edmonton Oilers have played fairly decent hockey over the last month. They are 10-6-1 in their last 17 games and if they had played at this pace for the whole year, they’d probably be a playoff team. While they’ve been eliminated, they’ll try to play spoiler on Saturday when they face a team that’s fighting for their playoff lives.

Kings vs Oilers Betting Analysis

The Oilers have registered a 6-2-1 record over their last nine games overall. Edmonton has scored four goals or more in each of its last four wins, outscoring its opponents 21-8 in those games. They are 16-17-3 on home ice this season but were blanked 5-0 by Los Angeles in their first meeting at Rogers Place. Meanwhile, the Kings have alternated wins and losses for every single game in the month of March. Los Angeles is coming off a 7-1 win in Colorado and can’t afford to let off the gas pedal when they visit Edmonton on Saturday night. The Kings are 22-13-4 on the road this season.

Los Angeles Kings

Los Angeles has actually fared better on the road than on home ice so far this season. The Kings will hope that trend continues when they visit Edmonton on Saturday night. Jonathan Quick has won four of his last five starts overall while posting a 2.19 goals-against average over that span. His 2.19 GAA and .925 save percentage in March are his best numbers in any month since October.

Meanwhile, Anze Kopitar set the tone up front for the Kings with four goals in their 7-1 win over the Avalanche. Kopitar has registered six points over his last three games and leads LA with 86 points this season. The return of a healthy Jeff Carter has helped give the Kings even more balance up front. They’re averaging well over three goals per game in February and March, versus less than 2.50 per game before that. That’s why they’re 17-10-2 in their last 29 games, which is what has put them in playoff position.

Edmonton Oilers

Despite fans hoping they could tank and end up with another top pick at this year’s NHL Draft, the Oilers have held their own over the past couple of weeks. Connor McDavid has 13 points over his last seven games. Meanwhile, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has chipped in with nine points while Leon Draisaitl has six points over that span. Can Edmonton continue to produce goals on Saturday night? It will not be easy with Quick between the pipes for the Kings. The good news is the Oilers can counter with a goaltender who is playing well too.
