Winnipeg Jets vs. Dallas Stars Game 6 Prediction, NHL Odds
The Stars are up 3-2 in the series and -150 favourites for Saturday with a total of 5.5 goals.
Jets vs. Stars Playoff Betting Odds
With Winnipeg winning Game 5 by a score of 4-0 at home on Thursday to cut the Dallas series lead to 3-2, the Stars are now -425 favourites (were -1400 entering Game 5) and the Jets +320 (were +775). I’ve said all along that I liked Dallas in six.
Still no overtime games in the series and that there won’t be is -275 with one at +240. I’d still be surprised if we don’t see one. Connor Hellebuyck has pitched both shutouts in the series and that there it stays at two games with shutouts in the series is -1000, while three is +550. Doubt we see another, but that’s pretty good value. The Jets are now -475 favourites to score the most goals in the series with the Stars at +200. Winnipeg has 13 goals and Dallas 11.
On some player props, the Jets’ Josh Morrissey to have at least four shots in any remaining game of the series is +340, and Morrissey with at least two points in any game is +450. He missed Game 1 injured and had an assist each in Games 2-4 but didn’t have a point in Game 5. Morrissey has not topped two shots in the series yet. For the Stars, Matt Duchene to have two points in any remaining game is +340 and Miro Heiskanen the same is +400. Duchene has two points in the series and Heiskanen just made his debut off injury in Game 4 and has one assist in the series.
The winner of the series hosts Edmonton in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals at some point next week. That date obviously depends on if there’s a Game 7 here, which would be Monday in Winnipeg.
Winnipeg Jets
The Jets improved to 6-1 on home ice in these playoffs with Thursday’s 4-0 win over Dallas. Mark Scheifele (fourth of playoffs), Nikolaj Ehlers (fourth and fifth), Vladislav Namestnikov (third) had the goals. Schiefele opened the scoring with his third career goal in a potential elimination game, a franchise record. Kyle Connor had two assists to join Blake Wheeler (18 in 2018) and Dustin Byfuglien (11 in 2018) as the only players in franchise history with at least 10 helpers in a single postseason. It was Connor’s 13th career multi-point playoff game to pass Wheeler for second most in team history behind Scheifele with 17.
Connor Hellebuyck now has multiple shutouts in the same postseason for the second time in his career (2018). Only two other U.S.-born goaltenders in NHL history have posted multiple shutouts in two series. Hellebuyck was the first goaltender in Jets/Thrashers history with a shutout while facing elimination. He also was the seventh reigning William M. Jennings Trophy winner with a shutout while facing elimination. The most recent had been Patrick Roy in 2002. But Jets are 0-5 on the road in these playoffs and have lost nine straight playoff games away from home dating to 2023. Winnipeg is 0-2 all-time in road Game 6s.
Dallas Stars
Dallas scored eight total goals in its two home wins in the series but has totaled just three goals in the three in Winnipeg after being blanked there for the second game in a row Thursday. Captain Jamie Benn was fined $5,000 (US) for roughing the Jets’ Mark Scheifele during the third period of Game 5. The Stars looked a lot like they did in Game 2 in having trouble getting pressure on Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck. Dallas was outshot 35-22 in Game 5, outhit 52-33 and lost in the faceoff circle (47.5 per cent). Even with the Jets dominating, Dallas was only down 1-0 entering the third. But the Stars took two tripping minors 11 second apart, and that really changed the game. They are 5-1 at home in these playoffs. The franchise is 13-13 all-time in home Game 6s.
