Winnipeg Jets vs. Ottawa Senators: NHL Odds, Prediction

The Jets are down to their last four games of the NHL’s regular season, with two on the road and the final two games at home. Second place is secured in the Central, and expect the team to start resting some of their regular players in this last week of action.

Jets vs Senators Betting Analysis

The Jets have won two out of the last three meetings in Ottawa, and three straight overall. In their most recent game, the Jets blanked the Senators 5-0 back in December. The Jets are 7-0 in their last seven games against the Atlantic division, and 7-1 in their last eight games overall. Of note, the under is 6-1-1 in their last eight meetings head-to-head in the nation’s capital. The Senators are 5-7-1 against the Central division this season.

Winnipeg Jets

With their 3-1 win over the Maple Leafs on Saturday night, the Jets officially clinched home-ice advantage during the first round of the post season. This is the first game of a back-to-back games (Tuesday in Montreal) for the Jets. Patrik Laine has 43 goals on the season, but hasn’t scored a goal in his last six games.  Mathieu Perreault holds the distinction of longest scoring drought by a Jets forward at 16 games. However, he does have seven goals and 17 points against the Senators in his career. Of note, the Jets have recalled defenceman Sami Niku from the Manitoba Moose and he is expected to make his NHL debut giving Dustin Byfuglien a night off.

Ottawa Senators

It’s been a terrible season for the Ottawa Senators, and a disastrous month of March for the team. On Saturday night, they fell to the Detroit Red Wings 2-0, and have won one out of their last eight games. Now in the last home game of their regular season, Senators media is touting it as possibility the last home game for all-star defenceman Erik Karlsson. Although Karlsson is under contract for another year, there is some talk that now is the time to trade the franchises most talented player. The team is clearly rebuilding, and perhaps now is the time to get the most in return for the marquee player. Karlsson has been the NHL’s top scoring defenceman four times in his career and winner of the Norris Trophy in 2012 and 2015.
