For Winnipeg, they enter Wednesday on a roll with wins in nine of their last 12 and a 3-2 shootout victory at Buffalo yesterday. Toronto last played at Boston on Tuesday, defeating the Bruins 6-4.

For Winnipeg, they’re still on the outside of the West’s playoff picture with 76 points, and one back of Dallas for the final spot. Toronto’s win moved them back ahead of the Bruins in the standings. The Leafs are one point behind Tampa Bay for second, and a point ahead of Boston.

Puck drop at Scotiabank Arena is set for 7 p.m. EDT, with Toronto -205 on the moneyline and the over-under at six on the NHL odds.

Jets vs. Maple Leafs NHL Betting Odds

Toronto’s been a dominant club at home throughout the season with only seven regulation losses in 33 games so far. The Leafs have also won four straight at home, and are hosting a Winnipeg club that’s barely over .500 on the season.

Things get worse for the Jets with leading scorer Kyle Connor being in COVID protocol along with defenceman Nate Schmidt. Both won’t play in Toronto. The over is 4-1 in the last five Jets–Leafs games but Connor’s absence could play a role on the total. On the season, Winnipeg’s played 34 road games and the over-under is 17-17.

Winnipeg Jets

Captain Blake Wheeler opened Winnipeg’s scoring, and finished it in Buffalo Wednesday. Wheeler’s 11th got the Jets tied up in the second period and then he later ended a perfect shootout for the Jets’ three shooters. Mason Appleton scored his first as a Winnipeg Jet this season too after getting traded back from Seattle last week.

Connor Hellebuyck started his league-leading 57th game in net, and given the importance of the games for Winnipeg it could be Hellebuyck again on Thursday. Hellebuyck’s now 25-23-9 on the season with a .911 save percentage while also leading the NHL with exactly 1,700 saves.

Toronto Maple Leafs

Toronto put up all six of their goals Tuesday in the game’s first 40 minutes, and all the stars got in on the action. Auston Matthews, Mitchell Marner, and Morgan Reilly all had a goal and an assist in the win with Matthews’ tally being his league-leading 49th. Matthews has yet to score 50 goals in a season. John Tavares also had a multi-point night versus Boston with two assists.

More importantly, Toronto overcame an early injury to goalie Petr Mrazek. Erik Kallgren made 23 saves in relief and now with Mrazek and Jack Campbell both injured it could be the rookie’s net for the foreseeable future.
