Jets vs. Kings NHL Betting Odds
The Kings asserted dominance over the Jets in their first meeting of the season back in mid-October, beating Winnipeg in a 5-1 final. The first half of the game was scoreless but the Kings would score five goals before the Jets would score in the final two minutes. Trevor Moore (2G 1A) and Philip Danault (1G 2A) had three-point nights, while Cam Talbot stopped 26 of 27 shots for the Kings. Mark Scheifele spoiled the shutout with the Jets’ lone goal.
The Kings have topped Winnipeg in each of the past three meetings, taking last year’s season series 2-1. In seven meetings since the 2021-22 season, they have played the UNDER five times. Their next head-to-head will not be until April 1st, the third and final meeting of the season.
Their impressive start to the season has moved the Jets to 18-9 against the spread this season, but last night’s upset loss to the Sharks snapped a streak of four straight covers. They are 6-3 ATS over the past nine games. Their past 10 games have been low-scoring, not hitting the OVER in any of them, two of which have resulted in a push. The Jets are 10-14-3 on the OVER/UNDER this season allowing the seventh-fewest goals against per game (2.48).
The Kings have been one the best defensive teams all season, allowing just 2.28 goals per game; good for second in the NHL. They also boast the third-highest-scoring offence in the league (3.7 goals per game) but have only hit the OVER twice in their past 10, making them 9-15-1 on the total this season. LA’s record ATS in the past 10 is 6-4 because of their solid end to November, but they have only covered twice in the past six.
Winnipeg Jets
It looked as though the Jets were not ready for a much-improved Sharks team last night, who came out hot, testing Jets goalie Laurent Brossoit with 11 shots through the first five minutes. San Jose would open the scoring midway through the first and seven minutes later, Brendan Dillon (5) would tie it before the end of the first. The rest of the game would be scoreless until the Sharks scored a powerplay goal late in the third to take the victory.
Laurent Broissoit was Winnipeg’s best player last night, stopping 30 of 32 shots, but coming up just short in what was a goaltending battle.
The Jets opened the road trip with back-to-back wins over Colorado and Anaheim and they still boast an impressive 8-4-1 record as the visiting team. They look to end the trip on a high note tonight and return to Manitoba winning three of four.
Los Angeles Kings
The Kings return home from a four-game Eastern Conference where they started with a pair of wins, before an overtime and regulation loss for a 2-1-1 record. They beat two lesser opponents in Columbus and Montreal to begin the roadie before ending it off versus the Islanders and Rangers.
Former Kings goalie and future Hall of Famer Jonathan Quick got his revenge in the most recent game versus the Rangers. The 37-year-old stopped 25 of the 26 shots the Kings threw his way in his first game ever versus his former squad.
Phillip Danault’s (7) third-period powerplay goal was the lone marker for LA as they took their first regulation loss on the road this season.
LA is only 5-4-3 at home and will look to improve that tonight before heading back on the road for their next two contests.
