Game 2 Jets vs. Flames Prediction: Stanley Cup Qualifier Odds

The Calgary Flames got off to the start they wanted on Saturday with a convincing 4-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets. The Flames scored on all specialities and even added an empty netter in the win.

The Jets are licking their wounds, literally. Two key players on offence are likely to miss this game and possibility the series. Do they have enough depth to keep up to the hungry Flames?

Jets vs. Flames NHL Playoff Odds

With the Flames moving into a 1-0 series lead, it’s no surprise that they are the -143 favourites to win the series. The Jets currently sit at +105 to comeback to take this matchup.

In game two, the Flames are also the early -148 with the goal total once again listed at 5.5. In the last four games these two teams have played the under is a perfect 4-0.

Of note, the Jets are 0-5 in their last 5 games following a loss of 3 or more goals. They hope to correct that come Monday afternoon.

Winnipeg Jets

The Jets find themselves down 1-0 in this series but that’s not even the worst part of the story.

Entering game two, they will likely be missing the services of two key pieces to their offensive attack.

Mark Scheifele left the game early in the first period with a leg injury and did not return to the game. It will be a crippling blow to the club if the teams leading scorer (regular season) misses any part of this series with the Flames.

Things got worse for the Jets later in the third period when forward Patrik Laine left the contest with a hand injury. The flashy winger will see a specialist prior to game two.

Can the Jets pick up the pieces in a must win situation in game two? The Jets are currently a +123 underdog to win game two on Monday afternoon.

Of note, the team struggled throughout the contest going 0-for-7 on the power-play, and only managing 18 shots on goal the entire game.

Calgary Flames

The Flames earned full marks in game one outplaying the Jets in every department.

The team went 2-for-4 on the power-play with a pair of goals from Mikael Backlund and Johnny Gaudreau. Gaudreau’s tally was his first goal in six post season games dating back to last year’s five game series with the Avalanche.

The team also managed to net a back breaking blow to the Jets scoring as Tobias Rieder scored a short-handed marker giving the Flames a 2-1 lead at the time and never looked back.

Cam Talbot allowed the games first goal but had a relatively easy night in the Flames goal stopping 17-of-18 shots he faced.
