Both the Flames and Jets return to play after their bye weeks with a matinee match-up in Cowtown. Can the Flames continue their hot streak, winners of seven straight games entering this one? While the Jets were more than happy to enter the break, losing back-to-back games before the rest.

Jets vs. Flames Betting Analysis

This will be the second match-up of the season between these two Western conference foes. Back in early October, the Flames dominated the Jets in a 6-3 win. Both Johnny Gaudreau and TJ Brodie  had four point nights in the win. Last season the Flames took two of three games from the Jets, outscoring them eight to five, including a shutout. Overall, in 27 career games the Flames have a lifetime record of 15-12 against the Jets.

Winnipeg Jets

The Winnipeg Jets couldn’t wait to get to their bye week, dropping back to back games against division rivals Chicago (2-1) and the next night Minnesota (4-1). The team has enjoyed a very good season, with a 26-13-7 mark through the first 46 games. The Jets are 18-8-2 against the Western conference, and 10-10-6 on the road this season. A big reason for the success of the team has been the play of goaltender Connor Hellebuyck. Hellebuyck will be part of the All-Star game later this month in Tampa Bay because of his solid first half play. His 23 wins, which places him at the top of the league, a goals against of 2.40 (top 5), and save percentage of .922 (top 10) are the numbers that back it up. The success of the hockey club will depend on his play in the second half of the season.

Calgary Flames

The Calgary Flames return from their mandatory bye week as one of the hottest teams in the NHL. They enter this game with the Winnipeg Jets winners of seven straight games, and 7-2-1 in their last 10 games. The Flames are 25-16-4 on the season, and 15-10-2 against the Western conference. They have received a lot of contributions throughout the season, but maybe none more than Johnny Gaudreau and Mike Smith. Prior to the bye week, they were the No. 1 and No. 2 stars of the week. Gaudreau had two goals, and six assists in his last four games, and leads the team in scoring with 54 points overall (15 goals, 39 assists). Smith won all three of his starts with a save percentage of .963 over that time. For the season, Smith is 20-13-3, and a goals against of 2.46, and a save percentage of .924. He is expected to make his 39th start of the season against the Jets Saturday afternoon.
