Winnipeg Jets vs. Vancouver Canucks Prediction, NHL Odds
The Vancouver Canucks had a rough start to the season but have since found their footing. Heading into Saturday’s meeting with the Winnipeg Jets, they’ve won four out of their last five. Can they keep it going or will the Winnipeg Jets thwart their positive streak?
This game continues to hover around a pick’em on the NHL odds.
Jets vs. Canucks NHL Betting Odds
Winnipeg has won four straight on the road and is 7-2 in their past nine games when playing on just one day of rest before the game. Unfortunately, they’ve lost six out of their last seven games played on a Saturday. As for the total, the over has hit in their last four when they’ve scored under two goals in their last outing. The Jets are 20-7 in their last 27 meetings with the Canucks heading into this one.
On the other hand, the Canucks are 6-1 in their last seven games played against teams from the Western Conference but just 2-8 in their past 10 against teams with a winning percentage over .600 on the season. The total has seen the over hit in four out of their last five against teams with a winning percentage over .600.
Winnipeg Jets
The Jets are a healthy 19-9-1 on the season and have quietly been one of the best teams in the league over the last month or so. They started out 2-3-0 but have won 17 of their last 24 games. They’ve been doing a good job of keeping the puck out of the net this season as they are currently the fifth-best defence in the league in terms of goals allowed. A lot of that stems from the play of goaltender Connor Hellebuyck. He’s presently 15-7-1 overall with an excellent 2.39 GAA and a .927 save percentage. He’s also coming off of a matchup where he stopped 25 out of his 26 total shots faced.
Hellebuyck has started the last three games in the net and is likely to get the nod against Vancouver. He’s been a key cog in the success of Winnipeg and is better statistically compared to their backup David Rittich. Rittich is 4-2-0 but has a 2.72 GAA and a worse .893 save percentage. Double-check who is in net before placing your bets.
Vancouver Canucks
Vancouver has suffered from the complete opposite situation as Winnipeg. Instead of them being able to rely upon their goaltender, the Canucks have had to fight through theirs. They currently allow the third-most goals per game this season, ahead of only the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Anaheim Ducks. Two different goaltenders have seen 15 games in the net, and both have room for improvement.
Thatcher Demko remains on injured reserve, which will leave Spencer Martin in the net here. Martin is 9-3-1 with a 3.40 GAA and a .894 save percentage.
This showdown will be a contrast of styles. If the Canucks can lean into a faster-pace and pull the Jets into a higher-scoring affair, they’ll have the upper hand.
