Winnipeg Jets vs. Boston Bruins Prediction, NHL Odds
Both teams are having great seasons, sitting in the top 10 of the NHL’s standings, but the Jets will have their hands full trying to give the Bruins their first loss at home.
The Bruins are a heavy -240 favourites to win on the NHL odds with the total set at 6.5.
Jets vs. Bruins NHL Betting Odds
The Bruins and Jets have faced off six times since 2019 typically twice a season. Boston has dominated this matchup lately, sweeping Winnipeg in back-to-back season series by a combined score of 14-9. They have played the Under in three consecutive meetings and four of the past six.
Boston’s David Pastrnak has been great versus Winnipeg, in 11 career games he has scored nine goals and put up 13 points. Former Bruin Blake Wheeler has done his deal of damage against his former squad, getting 17 points (7G 10A) in 24 games.
The Jets have covered the spread in each of their past three games, boosting their record ATS this season to an impressive 20-12. They have held opponents to a single goal in three of their past four matchups helping them play Under in all of their past four. They hold an 11-19-2 record on the Over/Under this season, Connor Hellebuyck Vezina’s worthy performance in the net has a lot to do with that.
The Bruins hold the best record in the NHL playing against the spread at 22-9. They have failed to cover in four of their past 10 games, going through their worst stretch of the season in that department.
Both of these squads have something in common, they each know how to put the puck in the net. The Bruins are NHL’s second-highest-scoring team in the league notching 3.9 goals per game, while the Jets are the eighth, scoring 3.4 per game.
Winnipeg Jets
The Jets rolled over the Ottawa Senators 5-1 on Wednesday night, powered by a pair of goals from red-hot Kyle Connor. Connor has been tearing through December, picking up at least a point in his past 10 games for a total of 17 points (7G 10A).
Defenceman Josh Morrissey’s play continues to impress new head coach Rick Bowness, as he picked up a goal and an assist in the contest. He is currently second among defenceman with 38 points (6G 32A) in 32 games.
David Rittich played well versus the Senators, stopping 35 shots for his fifth win as a Jet. He got the nod due to Connor Hellebuyck being on the shelf with an illness. The good news for Winnipeg fans is that he will be travelling to Boston and is likely the starter for both games on this road trip.
The Jets can take back first place in the Central Division with a win in Boston, as they sit just a point behind the Stars.
Boston Bruins
The Boston Bruins fell asleep in the second period of Monday’s game versus the Florida Panthers. David Pastrnak scored just over a minute into the second to give the B’s a healthy 4-0 lead before the Cats came roaring back with three consecutive goals to cut the lead to 4-3. Coach Jim Montgomery did not call a timeout and let him ride it out until the intermission.
In the third, captain Patrice Bergeron took over for the Bruins, scoring two goals to secure the win for his team, capping off his four-point night.
TD Garden has been a tough arena for opponents this season as the Bruins have yet to lose a game in regulation on home ice home, boasting a 17-0-2 record.
Boston is sitting comfortably at the top of the NHL’s standings with 52 points, five points ahead of the second-placed Golden Knights, who have played four more games.
