Winnipeg Jets vs. St. Louis Blues Prediction, NHL Odds
It has been ugly for the Jets lately, and I’d classify the Blues’ entire season as disgusting. In this matchup, the Jets are much better-positioned to collect two points and turn things around.
Winnipeg was without Connor Hellebuyck for 10 games, and the results reflected his absence. But in his first game back in net, the Jets beat a strong Capitals team 5-1 before losing 3-2 to the Senators on Monday. The Jets have been treading water, but are keen on turning things around and going on a run. Tonight should be another positive turn for Winnipeg.
Winnipeg is a -150 favourite to win on the NHL odds, with the total set at 5.5.
Jets vs. Blues NHL Betting Odds
The Jets are just 1-4 in their previous five games, and are 1-5 in their last six road contests. However, Winnipeg has won 15 out of the 20 games played against the Blues, and this may be the worst version of St. Louis that the Jets have seen during that span.
The Blues have dropped two out of their last three games entering this one. They lost twice to the lowly Predators by a combined score of 12-4. Their other defeat was at home by a score of 5-2 to the Bruins, which was their second loss to Boston in a week by the same score. The Blues have played poorly at home and are banged up. This is a great get-right spot for the Jets.
Winnipeg Jets
With a 15-15-2 record, it’s fair to say that the Jets have underachieved a little bit this season. Even a brief stint without Hellebuyck aside, this is largely the same team that ran away with the Presidents’ Trophy last season. Their top line has a combined 111 points in 86 games played. Winnipeg also has strong depth on the roster to support those star players.
Given the talent the Jets possess and some strong individual performances, their .500 record is a bit perplexing. They are an experienced team that is well-coached, and now their star goaltender is back in the net. This will not be a complacent team tonight, as they have a good chance to capitalize on a struggling team for the two points they need.
St. Louis Blues
This disappointing season for the Blues was not on many radars. Fans watched this team play fantastically down the stretch last year, and ultimately came within two minutes of beating the Presidents’ Trophy-winning Jets in the first round of the playoffs. It’s a much different story this year.
The Blues were already struggling. But in the last month, they have sustained injuries to five regular starting forwards to make matters much worse. This team is beat up and holding a roster together with band-aid fixes game by game. They have a big uphill battle in this one.
NHL Prediction: Who Will Win Jets vs. Blues?
This is a lopsided matchup in favor of the Jets. Winnipeg has three players with 15+ goals and four players with 28+ points. St. Louis’ leading goal scorers have eight goals, and their leading point producer has 23 points.
The Blues rank 30th in the NHL in goals scored per game and 32nd in goals allowed per game. Their past week’s performance and further injuries sustained only reinforce Winnipeg’s advantages. The Jets are the better team in a favourable spot. They should have a big statement win in this one by a score of 4-1 to propel a turnaround.
