The Blackhawks saw their slide continue with Friday’s 3-2 loss to the visiting Montreal Canadiens. The Jets close out a three-game road trip in the Windy City after eking out a 5-4 win in Dallas on Friday, but have struggled with consistency during their current 4-3-0 run.
The Jets have made a steady climb to -174 road favourites since opening as a -163 bet on the NHL odds. The Blackhawks have attracted the support of just 16 per cent of sports bettors while tumbling to +145 underdogs. The total remains unchanged since opening at 6.0, but the UNDER has emerged as a strengthened -121 bet despite attracting just 37 per cent of the betting action.

Sunday night’s matchup at United Center marks the second of four scheduled meetings this season between these Central Division rivals. The Jets skated to a decisive 4-0 victory when the Blackhawks visited Winnipeg on November 5, and have now outscored Chicago by 24-12 overall margin while winning five of six in head-to-head action.
The Jets have also won four of five dates in Chicago, and have limited the Blackhawks to three or fewer goals in nine of 12 meetings, and have seen four of their past five victories come by multi-goal margins. The Jets’ recent dominance has sparked uneven results in totals betting, with the OVER going 7-5-1 in 13 contests.

While the Jets have managed to win just two of their past four contests, they remain very much in contention for top spot in the Central Division standings, trailing first-place Dallas by just three points with two games in hand. Mark Scheifele has fallen particularly quiet. Scheifele was once again kept off the scoresheet in Friday’s victory, extending his current pointless streak to four games. Kyle Connor has been steady, if not prolific, scoring in two straight games, and has now tallied four points during a three-game points streak on the road.
Chicago Blackhawks
The Blackhawks turned in a respectable effort in Friday’s date with the visiting Canadiens, outshooting the Habs by a 32-23 margin, and forcing overtime with a crucial third period goal. However, this club has considerable work to do to get past the struggles at both ends of the ice that have marked their current six-game slide. The Blackhawks have been outscored by a wide 28-12 during their current swoon, and now rank dead last in the NHL with just 50 goals scored through their first 20 contests.
Among the few positives to be found on this club is the recent play of Patrick Kane, who has tallied a point in three straight outings, and racked up 11 points through nine home dates. However, the team’s leading goalscorer, Jonathan Toews, has seen his production tail off. While Captain Serious has managed to pick up three assists in four outings, he has scored just once in his past nine outings.
