Carolina Hurricanes vs. Ottawa Senators Game 4 Prediction, NHL Playoff Odds
The season is on the line for the Ottawa Senators on Saturday afternoon in Game 4 of their Eastern Conference first-round series vs. Carolina, which leads 3-0. The Hurricanes are -125 favourites to complete the sweep with a total of 5.5 goals.
Hurricanes vs. Senators NHL Betting Odds
The last time Ottawa faced an elimination game at home was Game 6 of the 2025 first round vs. Toronto, with the Sens losing 4-2. But they did win the previous two elimination games in the series. The Senators are 15-13 all-time in playoff Game 4s and 10-8 at home. Carolina is 20-16 in Game 4s and 9-10 away.
The Hurricanes were -650 on the series line entering Game 3 but with that win are now -3000 with Ottawa at +1500. On the total games prop, five is the +230 favourite and I’m leaning that way. Hurricanes in five is the +220 exact result leader, and that’s what I think happens. Game 5 if needed would be in Raleigh on Monday.
The Hurricanes are up 3-0 in a series for the fourth time in franchise history and second in the past three years. Carolina went on to win each of those series in five games or fewer. Ottawa has won Game 4 in each of its past two series when trailing 3-0: Last year vs. Toronto and the 2015 first round vs. Montreal. In both those cases, the Senators even forced a Game 6. That would be back in Ottawa on Thursday.
Carolina Hurricanes
Projected a 3-2 Ottawa win in Game 3, but Frederik Andersen has simply been too good in net for Carolina. He made 21 saves in the 2-1 victory in Game 3 and has now stopped 80 of 83 shots in the series. Andersen has won three straight games to open a postseason for the third time career. The team record is four such by Mike Luit in 1986.
Logan Stankoven (third of series) and Jackson Blake (first) had the two Carolina goals with Blake’s the winner at 17:29 of the second period. Stankoven became the second player in NHL history to score the game-opening goal in each of his team’s first three games of a postseason. The other was George Armstrong in 1956 with Toronto. The only player with a longer run in is Michel Goulet from Game 2-5 of the 1985 division semifinals with Quebec. Only two players in Hurricanes/Whalers history have posted a longer goal streak in a playoff year: Bates Battaglia with four in 2022 and Ray Sheppard with four in 1999. Carolina apparently got out of Game 3 healthy.
Ottawa Senators
Special teams were the biggest reason why Ottawa lost Game 3 as the Sens went 0-for-5 on the power play, including a 1:28 stretch of five-on-three in which the team didn’t have a shot on goal. Drake Batherson’s second goal of the series tied it 1-1 in the second Thursday, but the Canes scored the winner shortly after.
Blueliner Artem Zub was hurt in Game 1, hasn’t played since and won’t Saturday. Fellow defenceman Jake Sanderson left Game 3 with an injury and also will sit Game 4. That’s a massive loss as Sanderson had 54 points and a plus-16 rating during the regular season. He has two assists in this series. Ottawa hasn’t had a comeback win in the playoffs since Game 6 of the 2017 East Finals vs. Pittsburgh.
