Vegas Golden Knights vs. Dallas Stars Game 3 Prediction, NHL Odds

The Golden Knights escaped with a second straight overtime win on Sunday, claiming a 3-2 win to seize a 2-0 series lead. Losers in consecutive games for the first time in over two months, the Stars have won five of six at home, and 11 of 13 since late March.

The Stars return home perched as -148 favourites on the Game 3 odds. The Golden Knights lag as +122 underdogs, and the total is listed at 5.5, with -112 odds favouring the OVER. In the wake of this past weekend’s overtime wins, the Golden Knights have vaulted to -385 favourites on the NHL playoff series prices, while the Stars have tumbled to +320 longshots.

Golden Knights vs. Stars NHL Playoff Betting Odds

The Golden Knights have ended a four-game losing streak against the Stars with their fast start to the series. The club has also enjoyed some success when playing in Dallas, claiming victory in five of eight all-time visits, but are winless in their past two. Sunday’s contest extended the trend towards low scoring when these teams meet. The UNDER is 10-2-1 in their past 13 overall clashes, and 5-1 in their past six dates in Dallas.

Vegas Golden Knights

The Golden Knights were lucky to avoid a deep hole after stumbling out of the gate in Game 2. Vegas shooters mustered just 10 total shots through 40 minutes, and twice had to overcome one-goal deficits to force overtime for the second time in the series. Adin Hill has remained a revelation in the Golden Knights crease. Hill turned aside 26 of 28 shots including all 12 shots faced in the third period, and has now surrendered just 10 total goals during a four-game win streak.

Chandler Stephenson ended a four-goal scoring drought by potting the overtime winner and added an assist for a second straight game. Mark Stone found the back of the net for the sixth time in his past seven home appearances. However, Stone has failed to score on the road so far in the postseason, and has gone pointless in four away dates.

Dallas Stars

The Stars’ struggles to generate offence continued once again in Game 2. The club saw the ice steadily tilt in favour of Vegas after seizing an early lead, and have now potted just 10 total goals over the past four games. Roope Hintz remains perch as the points leader so far in these NHL playoffs despite getting blanked in Sunday’s loss. However, Hintz has scored three times in his past two home dates.

The pressure is squarely on the shoulders of goaltender Jake Oettinger entering Game 3. Oettinger stopped 21 of 24 shots in Sunday’s loss, but has failed to step up when the Stars have needed him to steal a game. While the team has gone 0-4 in overtime action on his watch, he has been steady at home of late, allowing just five total goals while recording three straight wins.

Game 3 Prediction: Who Will Win Golden Knights vs. Stars?

The Golden Knights have clearly seized the momentum with Sunday’s win. However, very little separates these clubs, both on the positive and negative sides of the ledger. Accordingly, there is value to be found in the +318 odds of Game 3 going to overtime in what will likely be another low-scoring affair.
