Golden Knights vs. Sharks Game 5 Prediction: NHL Playoffs Betting Odds
The hottest line in the Stanley Cup playoffs will look to continue its success Thursday night as Vegas tangles with a San Jose Sharks team on the brink of yet another disappointing elimination.
Golden Knights vs Sharks Stanley Cup Playoffs Betting Analysis
San Jose might be the favourite, but it has done nothing to warrant such odds based on recent play. The Sharks have been run out of the building three straight times by the Golden Knights, having been outscored 16-6 over the previous nine periods of play. San Jose hasn’t been right for a while, having lost 12 of its past 16 games overall – but if ever there was a time to rebound, it’s Thursday against a Vegas team that has dropped 16 of its last 21 as an underdog.
More than 70 percent of Sports Interaction bettors like the visitors to wrap things up in Game 5, while 86 percent are taking the over on the total of 6. And it’s hard to argue with that trend, given that these teams have gone 5-1 to the over in their past six meetings while riding a four-game over streak in San Jose. The Golden Knights have surpassed the number in each of their previous five road playoff games dating back to last year’s Stanley Cup final.
Vegas Golden Knights
A quick glance atop the NHL playoff scoring chart will reveal what the Sharks have known all series: The trio of Stone, Stastny and Pacioretty has been absolutely unstoppable. The three have combined for 28 points through the first four games – and with Stone and Pacioretty having scored 10 of the Golden Knights’ 18 postseason goals between them, you can’t go wrong taking either player on the anytime goal prop for Game 5.
San Jose Sharks
The Sharks are coming off a humbling 5-0 defeat in Game 4 – but if they bounce back the way they did when they were shut out during the regular season, they should at least make a game of it. San Jose was blanked four times in 2018-19, and scored a total of 18 goals in the games following those shutouts. They’ll also need markedly better goaltending, with Martin Jones and Aaron Dell posting a combined .845 save percentage to date.
