The Flames get set to hit the ice on Wednesday perched as -132 home favourites, while the Golden Knights are pegged as underdogs for the sixth time in as many road games, sporting +110 odds. The total is pegged at 6.0, with the UNDER slight favoured at -115.
Golden Knights vs. Flames NHL Betting Odds
Wednesday night’s matchup at Scotiabank Saddledome marks the second of three regular season meetings between these Pacific Division rivals. The Golden Knights escaped with a 3-2 victory when the Flames visited Sin City on December 5, and have now topped Calgary in six of seven head-to-head clashes since November 2018. Calgary has been outscored by a wide 20-7 overall margin while losing their past four to the Golden Knights. That run includes a 5-3 defeat when the Golden Knights last visited the Saddledome in March 2020. The OVER holds the edge in puck totals betting, going 3-1-1 over the past five meetings between these clubs, and is 5-0 in five all-time head-to-head dates in Calgary.
Vegas has surrendered just two goals per game over their past five away contests, fueling a 4-1 run for the UNDER. Conversely, the Flames have shown an offensive spark during their current 5-1-0 run, averaging 3.83 goals per game. That has contributed to a 4-1-2 run for the OVER.
Vegas Golden Knights
The Golden Knights continued to roll in Tuesday’s win over the Oilers. Vegas never looked back after seizing an early 2-0 lead on the way to their second shutout victory in their past five road contests. The club has been receiving offensive contributions from up and down the lineup, with 12 different players finding the back of the net over the past six games. Fourth-liner Brett Howden has provided a welcome offensive spark, scoring in each of the past four games, and adding three assists during a five-game points streak.
Calgary Flames
In addition to their recent road success, the Flames have been particularly steady while winning three straight at home. Wednesday’s expected starting goaltender has had plenty of defensive help while surrendering just two total goals over that stretch, including a 1-0 overtime win over Vancouver that marked his seventh shutout of the season, and made the Flames the first ever NHL team to record nine shutouts over the first 40 games of a season. However, Markstrom has struggled at times in recent dates with the Golden Knights. The Swedish veteran has been tagged with the loss in eight of his past 10 appearances versus Vegas while allowing an average of 3.90 goals per game over that stretch.
