Vegas Golden Knights vs. St. Louis Blues Prediction, NHL Odds
Which team will get back in the win column tonight as the two biggest losing streaks in the west division face off?
Golden Knights vs. Blues Betting Analysis
The NHL Odds have Vegas the -133 favourite tonight on the moneyline. The Golden Knights have won the past two meetings 5-1 and lead the season series 3-1; the Blues win was 5-4 in a shootout in the first game. Despite their current skid Vegas is still second in their division, while the Blues now find themselves on the outside looking in, as they fall to fifth and one spot outside the playoffs. 76 percent of our bettors are going with Vegas tonight.
67 percent are taking the over tonight with the total set at 5.5. This matchup has had the same total three of four times, playing the over in each one. They have scored at least six goals in every game this year. The Blues are on a wicked under trend going 8-2 in the past 10. Their offence has dried up and they haven’t scored more than three in a night since Mar. 22.
Vegas Golden Knights
The Golden Knights uncharacteristically blew a third period lead to the Wild on Saturday night, extending their losing streak to three. Vegas has been great at closing out games this year, but fell asleep and gave up two goals in under a minute midway through the period. The powerplay has been a struggle for Vegas this season, they are ranked 24th in the league and have not converted in three games going 0 for 10 in the stretch. The penalty kill has been bad too, giving up crucial goals in the past two games despite being ranked sixth league-wide.
The Golden Knights starting goalie job is there for the taking as both goalies have been stellar this year. Robin Lehner has recently returned to action and has a 1.50 goals against average since his comeback, while Marc-Andre Fleury is 1-4 in his last five starts.
St. Louis Blues
After a disappointing back-to-back sweep at the hands of the Colorado Avalanche, a desperate Blues team now faces the second best team in the division. St. Louis showed frustration Saturday night in Colorado, when they took four minor penalties along with a fighting major. They were 41 seconds away from going to overtime when the Avs scored to take the lead, missing out on a crucial point in the standings. On the bright side, rookie goalie Ville Husso played his best NHL game to date, stopping 32 of 34 shots good for a .941 save percentage.
The Blues will likely go back to Jordan Binnington tonight who has started in all but one game against Vegas. He is 1-1-1 against them this year and has given up a combined 14 goals in those three games.
