Both teams are looking to shake their multi-game losing streaks as Ottawa has lost four in a row, while Philadelphia has just one win in their past five.

The Senators are a -185 favourite to win on the NHL odds with the total set at 6.5.

Flyers vs. Senators NHL Betting Odds

The Flyers and Sens had a three-game season series last year, with Ottawa edging out Philly two games to one. They played the Over only once in that set, but looking back to 2017, eight of their 12 meetings have been high scoring and hit the Over. The Senators have performed extremely well against the spread versus the Flyers, covering in all of their past eight meetings.

Philadelphia’s most recent 5-2 loss against Toronto was only the second game this season they failed to cover ATS, putting them 8-2 on the season. The Flyers have played the Over in three of their past four games, but are 5-5 on the total so far.

Ottawa has lost four games in a row, but in their two most recent losses they have managed to crawl back within one and cover the spread, boosting their record ATS to 7-3. The Senators have had no problem putting the puck in the net averaging 3.7 goals per game (3rd in NHL). All of their past three games have hit the Over, and they are 6-4 to the Over this season.

Philadelphia Flyers

After a red-hot start to the season, the Philadelphia Flyers have fallen back down to fifth place in the Metropolitan Division after dropping four of their past five games, putting them 5-3-2 on the year.

Joel Farabee scored his third of the season to open the scoring in the Flyers’ most recent 5-2 loss against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday night. Philly was playing the second of a back-to-back and was heavily outplayed, getting outshot 44-25 and going 0-6 on the power play.

Felix Sandstrom got the start in the net, giving Carter Hart a much needed rest. Sandstrom has started three games so far this season and has yet to get a win. He has a 3.78 goals against average with a .894 save percentage.

Travis Konecny had a great game in Toronto, picking up two assists to give him the team lead in points with 11 in 10 games. More notably though, he challenged Leafs’ star Auston Matthews to scrap causing an all-out melee with less than two minutes to go in the game.

Ottawa Senators

The Senators had a tough road trip through Florida, getting heavily outshot in games versus both the Florida Panthers and Tampa Bay Lightning but managed to stay in both games more than they should have. They then returned to home ice to face the red-hot Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday and pushed them to the brink, but lost 5-4 extending their losing streak to four games.

Cam Talbot, who was traded from Minnesota in the off-season, made his Senators debut versus Vegas, coming into the game in relief of Anton Forsberg after he gave up five goals on 19 shots. Talbot was viewed as the starter before suffering an injury in training camp and should help the team move forward. The Senators have been giving up 3.2 goals per game, the 10th worst mark in the league and getting an experienced netminder back should only help.

After playing 1,000 games with the Flyers over 15 seasons, Claude Giroux was traded at last season’s trade deadline to the Florida Panthers, before signing with his hometown Senators over the summer. He’s been fitting in nicely on his new squad with nine points on the season and five in his past four games.
