The Flames have now lost 10 out of their last 13 games and their playoff hopes are fading.

The Dallas Stars have won three straight games and four out of their past five. They were in a funk of their own recently but have seemingly snapped out of it. Will the momentum of each side continue in this one, leading to an easy Dallas win?

Flames vs. Stars NHL Betting Odds

The Flames have lost five straight overall and are 1-5 in their last six games when playing against teams from the Central Division. As for the total, the over has cashed in their past four games played on a Monday. It’s also hit in four of their last five games played on the road.

The Stars are 39-18 in their last 57 games played against teams that have a losing record on the season but are just 2-5 in their last seven games played at home. The total has gone 3-0-1 in their last four games played at home and the same record against teams with a losing record on the year.

Calgary Flames

Calgary has really not looked good all season long. The team that finished atop the Western Conference last regular season has been a mess. They started 5-1-0 this season but have been nowhere near that level since. They have won just 21 of their last 55 games.

They’ve scored a total of five goals in their last four games overall while allowing 13 to their opponents. That score differential has been glaring during this losing streak with very minimal positives to take out of these defeats. If they want to take down the Stars, they’ll want improvement on both offense and defense.

Defensively, it all starts with their goaltending. Jacob Markstrom has been in the crease for the last four games and has an overall record of 15-17-8 with a 2.94 GAA and a .890 save percentage. If they give him a rest here, Dan Vladar would take over the position. Vladar is coming off a rough February where he finished with a 1-2-1 record, a 3.72 GAA, and a .831 save percentage. They can’t seem to stop anybody these days, which makes it hard to bet on this team.

Dallas Stars

Dallas has played better and better over their last three games. They’ve scored four, five, then seven goals in their past three contests. It wasn’t just an offensive explosion either as they limited their opponents to seven goals in those three matchups. Dallas doesn’t want to resort to bad habits against Calgary as this team had lost six of seven before this mini hot spell. That means that they’ll be relying upon Jake Oettinger to keep them together.

Oettinger has been one of the best goaltenders in the league at this point in the season. He’s 26-8-10 on the year with a 2.31 GAA and a .922 save percentage. He’s also posted four shutouts on the year. He has still allowed 16 goals in his last five games, which is uncharacteristically high for him. This looks like a good spot for him to bounce back, though.
