Calgary Flames vs. New York Rangers Prediction, NHL Odds
Neither team is pushing for a playoff spot, as Calgary’s 57 points are the second-fewest in the Western Conference, and New York’s 58 are the fewest in the Eastern Conference.
This will be the second and final meeting between Calgary and New York this season. The Flames took the previous meeting at home in dominating fashion, winning by a score of 5-1 back on October 26. Calgary has also controlled this series in recent seasons, as they’ve won seven of the last 10 meetings against the Rangers going back to 2020.
Flames vs. Rangers NHL Betting Odds
The Flames enter this matchup with a record of 25-31-7, while the Rangers own an overall record of 25-30-8. With both teams at the bottom of the standings in each of their respective conferences, it’s not surprising to see oddsmakers expecting a close game in this contest. Calgary enters with money line odds of +110, with New York at -130 on the other side.
On the puck line, Calgary has been more impressive. More specifically, the Flames are 35-28 while the Rangers are 32-31. In this matchup, Calgary +1.5 is valued at -230, with New York -1.5 available at +190. The game total is set at 5.5, with the Over juiced to -125 and the Under listed at +105. The Flames are 30-29-4 to the Over, while the Rangers are 28-33-2.
New York’s Mika Zibanejad boasts the shortest odds to score a goal in this contest at +145. Zibanejad leads the Rangers with 27 goals on the season and is coming off a two-goal performance last night against the Flyers. Calgary’s Joel Farabee has the shortest odds of any Flames player to find the back of the net (+240). Farabee is tied with Blake Coleman for the team lead with 15 goals and is on pace to push for a career-high in goals, which currently sits at 22.
Calgary Flames
The Calgary Flames are enduring a tough season, and they enter this matchup with losses in five of their last six games. Things have gotten especially tough for Calgary since the calendar flipped to 2026, as the Flames have won just seven of their 23 games since the start of January.
It doesn’t help that the franchise has started trading away key pieces as a rebuild begins. The Flames dealt Rasmus Andersson to the Golden Knights in January, and spent the week before the trade deadline sending Mackenzie Weegar to the Mammoth and Nazem Kadri to the Avalanche. Those are three key players who are no longer there, leaving the Flames with plenty of young, inexperienced players on the roster down the stretch.
Kadri was leading the team in points with 41, while no other Flame has exceeded 25 points on the season. Andersson is still fifth on the team with 30 points despite playing 15 games with the Golden Knights since he was traded. Weegar wasn’t lighting up the score sheet, but he is an experienced defenceman who is extremely valuable on the back end. Those three absences leave the Flames fairly short-handed heading into this matchup against the Rangers.
New York Rangers
The New York Rangers are also enduring a tough season, as their 58 points are the fewest in the Eastern Conference. The Rangers traded Artemi Panarin to the Kings in February, but other than that, they were fairly quiet during the trade deadline. The franchise made modest moves in trading away Sam Carrick, Derrick Pouliot, and Brennan Othmann, but chose to hang on to veterans Vincent Trocheck, Jonathan Quick, and Alexis Lafreniere.
Goal-scoring has been an issue for the Broadway Blueshirts all season long, as they rank 26th in the NHL, scoring 2.73 goals per game. However, they may be finding a groove. New York has scored three or more goals in five straight games and has tallied 25 total goals in that span. They are coming off a six-goal performance against the Flyers and seem to have another favourable matchup against a struggling Flames team.
NHL Prediction: Who Will Win Flames vs. Rangers?
The Rangers haven’t scored goals consistently this season, but their current hot streak should have them entering this contest with plenty of confidence. Furthermore, New York still has plenty of seasoned veterans on the roster who are capable of putting forth a strong performance against a lesser opponent.
The Flames are lacking serious experience and scoring prowess after trading several key pieces away from a team that was already struggling. I expect the Rangers to win this game on home ice by a score of 3-2.
