Calgary Flames vs. Nashville Predators Prediction, NHL Odds
It has been a tumultuous season for both the Flames and the Predators, as they find themselves at the bottom of the NHL. It is getting late early, and if either team is going to make a run, it needs to be now.
Entering Tuesday, Calgary and Nashville have a little bit of life. The Flames are 4-1-1 in their last six games while the Predators have won two out of their previous three. The two points up for grabs are important in this one. Perhaps the winner can use this game as a catalyst.
This game is hovering around a pick’em on the NHL odds, with the total set at 5.5.
Flames vs. Predators NHL Betting Odds
The Predators beat the Flames in November by a score of 4-2. Regardless of the winner, the offensive output could be similar on Tuesday. The Flames scored 20 goals in five games before their narrow 1-0 overtime loss to the Hurricanes on Sunday.
The Predators allow a league-worst 3.68 goals per game, while Calgary is last in the NHL in goals per game (2.33). However, they’ve been heating up, as the Over has hit in six out of the Flames’ last eight games; it has also cashed in four out of Nashville’s previous five. Recent form and general volatility of both teams bode well for another higher total.
Calgary Flames
In Calgary’s current 4-1-1 stretch, they scored 5+ goals against Buffalo, Vancouver, and Florida. They lost beyond regulation just 1-0 to Carolina, and beat a strong Dallas team 3-2. It’s not a soft part of Calgary’s schedule, and they’re finding a way to not only be competitive but win.
The Flames have had a few standout individual performances lately as well. In their last five games, Nazem Kadri has tallied seven points, and Joel Farabee has logged three goals and four points. The latter is a better sign considering Farabee has just seven goals and 13 points in 27 games. If Calgary keeps getting contributions from top and role players alike, they’ll continue being competitive.
Nashville Predators
Nashville was 2-7-2 in November before last week, when they beat Detroit and Chicago. The two-game winning streak was snapped by a 5-2 loss to a solid Winnipeg team. The wins are encouraging, and while a 5-2 setback is far from ideal, it did not come at the hands of a mediocre team. The Preds have an extra day off and are at home for a game they really need to win.
Although Nashville beat Calgary at home a month ago, the same recipe likely will not get the job done. The Flames are a much different team now. Calgary has been scoring a bit more, which could be a bad matchup for Nashville. In their last five losses, the Preds have been outscored 26-8. Lately, when Nashville loses, they lose big. If this team can clean up their goal prevention, they will give themselves a much better chance.
NHL Prediction: Who Will Win Flames vs. Predators?
Although these teams are separated by just two points in the standings, it’s the Flames that appear to be the far better team lately. The Predators’ two wins last week look more like the outlier as opposed to the Flames’ current 4-1-1 run, which is part of a respectable, longer 7-5-2 run.
Nashville has just one win in its last seven home games, and the Flames are 3-1-1 in their last five road contests. Calgary has shown much more life and is the more reliable play in this one. The Flames have a good chance to continue the Predators’ woes with a 5-2 win.
