Calgary Flames vs. Winnipeg Jets Prediction, NHL Odds

Flames vs. Jets Betting Analysis
The only regular season meeting between these teams, last season, was the 2019 Heritage Classic, which saw Winnipeg take down the Flames 2-1 outdoors at Mosaic Stadium in Saskatchewan. Calgary had their revenge in the playoffs however, taking down the Jets 3-1 in the best-of-five Stanley Cup Qualifiers.
The total has gone Under in seven of the last 10 games between these teams, while the Flames are 4-2 straight up in their last six games against Winnipeg. Calgary has gone 5-3 against the spread this season, but have only covered once on the road.
The Jets haven’t struggled to score goals, this season. Winnipeg has hit the Over in five of their last six home games and four of their last five games overall. It’s paid to bet the Jets so far, this season. Winnipeg is 7-2 ATS, covering in five of their six home games.
Calgary Flames
After an off-year that saw him put up 58 points in 70 games, Johnny Gaudreau has been Calgary’s hottest player. Johnny Hockey has recorded a point in all eight of the Flames’ games (6G, 4A), and he was back at it on Monday. In just under 20 minutes of ice time Gaudreau scored in regulation before sealing the deal with the shootout winner. Chris Tanev and Andrew Mangiapane both picked up their first goals of the season and Jacob Markstrom made 25 saves for his fourth win of the year.
These teams seem fairly evenly matched, as the only other meeting between the Flames and Jets this year also needed extra time. Calgary, however, was on the wrong side of that decision, falling 4-3 in overtime. Elias Lindholm, Gaudreau and Matthew Tkachuk were the goal scorers, while Markstrom finished with 30 saves on 34 shots. Calgary will face Winnipeg three more times over the next week.
Winnipeg Jets
It was a Jekyll and Hyde type of game for the Jets on Monday. After jumping out to an early 2-0 lead with two Kyle Connor power play goals, Winnipeg gave up three straight goals before Mark Scheifele tied it late in the third period. He didn’t put up dazzling numbers, but as he was forced to do a lot last season, Connor Hellebuyck kept the Jets in the game with timely saves. Hellebuyck ultimately finished with 25 saves, but dropped to 4-2-0 on the season with a 2.70 goals against average and .907 save percentage. Not that he needs any more motivation, but a win on Tuesday would give Hellebuyck the most wins in Jets franchise history. Hellebuyck is currently tied with Ondrej Pavelec at 155 career wins.
In an odd move, Winnipeg coach Paul Maurice elected not to use Nikolaj Ehlers in the shootout, despite the star winger recording seven points in his last five games. Ehlers (5G, 6A), Connor (6G, 5A), and Blake Wheeler (3G, 5A) are tied for second in team scoring with 11 points each, while Scheifele (4G, 8A) leads the team with 12 points. Pierre-Luc Dubois, acquired in the Patrik Laine trade, is still in mandatory quarantine and should be available by early next week.
