The Islanders return home after wrapping up a three-game road trip with a 3-0 loss in Detroit on Saturday night, which also put the brakes on an impressive 5-0-0 run.
Despite their recent woes, the Flames have gained momentum since opening as -120 favourites on the NHL odds, briefly vaulting to -141 chalk before settling back to their current position as a -126 bet. The total is unchanged since opening at 6.0, with the UNDER attracting 58 per cent of the betting action.

Monday night’s matchup at UBS Arena marks the first of two regular season meetings between these teams. The Flames swept last season’s two-game series with the Isles, and have now topped New York in four straight head-to-head clashes, with each of those wins coming by multi-goal margins. Calgary has outscored the Islanders by wide 17-7 overall margin during their four-game win streak, and have scored at least five goals three times while winning six of their past seven dates with New York, fuelling a 4-2-1 run for the OVER in totals betting.

The club looked poised to end their current slide while battling to overcome a two-goal deficit on Saturday, but an Elias Lindholm penalty in overtime opened the door for New Jersey to pot the game winner. Flames shooters have struggled to generate steady offence during the team’s current losing streak, scoring just 2.50 goals per game.
Jonathan Huberdeau has gone pointless during the team’s 0-3-1 run. Overall, Huberdeau has compiled just one goal and four assists to date, with all but one of those points coming on the power play. Nazem Kadti has also cooled off, scoring just twice over the past four games after piling up nine points over a six-game points streak to start the season. However, Huberdeau and Kadri racked up a combined nine points in five combined appearances against the islanders last season.
New York Islanders
After outscoring opponents by a wide 22-9 overall margin while winning five straight, the Islanders fell flat while getting shut out by the Red Wings to wrap up their recent road trip. The Isles can be forgiven for being fatigued in Saturday’s loss. Unlike the Flames, who have played all but one of their first 10 games on home ice, the Islanders have played six of eight games on the road over the past two weeks. The club’s recent run is even more impressive considering the opponents they have defeated, which include the New York Rangers, Carolina, and Colorado.
The duo of Brock Nelson and Anders Lee has led the offence during their recent surge, combining to tally 12 total points during the team’s win streak. The Islanders penalty kill has also been working, operating at 90.5 per cent, good for third overall in the league. However, the club allowed both a power play goals and a shorthanded goal in Saturday’s loss, and have struggled with the man advantage, converting on just 13.5 per cent of their opportunities.
