Flames vs. Canadiens NHL Betting Odds
Last year’s North Division had these two facing off nine times with Calgary taking six and out-scoring the Habs 24-15 playing the under in all but two. The home team went 6-3 in their previous season series, but 81 percent of bettors are siding with the visiting Flames.
The Flames have been scoring a ton of goals and have not given up many at the other end. They are top five in both goals for and against per game and half split their over/under 5-5
Six of the Canadiens last nine games have hit the over, which has 82 percent of the public taking the over at -105. They have not covered the spread in their last three games and have conceded 14 goals in the stretch.
Calgary Flames
The Flames were handed their first regulation loss in 10 games, at the hands of their Pacific Division rival, the San Jose Sharks. They have now lost three of their past four, but were able to sneak out an overtime point, bringing their record to 7-2-3 and second place in the division.
Goalie Jacob Markstrom has been ridiculously good to start the season, boasting a 1.69 goals against average and a .940 save percentage.
Markstrom has started the past six games for Calgary and considering their opponents record, could be given the night off.
Montreal Canadiens
The Canadiens managed to push Tuesday’s battle with the Kings to overtime for the first time all season, but ended up losing their third in a row, 3-2. The game was one of the team’s better efforts so far this year, but the powerplay failed the Habs once again.
Defenceman Ben Chiarot opened the scoring with his third goal of the year, tying him for second on the team. Chiarot has been the most consistent player on the Habs to date with 36 hits, four points and 14 penalty minutes.
Montreal has not beat a Pacific Division team yet this year. They will likely be without forwards Cedric Paquette and Jonathan Drouin, who are sidelined with injuries.
