Anaheim Ducks vs. Calgary Flames Prediction, NHL Odds

The Flames are riding a three-game heater and now sit just two points back of the final wildcard spot in the Western Conference.

Anaheim is looking to bounce back after getting smoked 6-0 last night in Edmonton and break their current seven-game losing streak.

The Flames are listed as a heavy -460 favourite to win on the NHL odds with the total sitting at 6.5.

Ducks vs. Flames NHL Betting Odds

The Ducks and Flames will finish their season series Sunday evening in Calgary, meeting for the fourth time. Anaheim has beaten the Flames once already and they have covered the spread twice, playing the Under in all three head-to-heads. The Flames have had the Ducks number in recent years, beating them in seven of their 10 most recent matchups.

Anaheim’s offence has been horrible over the course of their current seven-game losing streak, scoring a single goal or less in five of those games. This lack of firepower has them as the second lowest in the league in goals, leading to them playing the Under in six of their past seven. They have not covered the spread in four games dropping their record ATS down to 35-41 on the season.

Despite posting a 4-2-1 record over their past seven games, the Flames have only covered the spread twice in that span. They won their past two games by just one goal and did not cover in either one and now have a 32-44 record ATS. The offence has been rolling in Calgary over their past 10, scoring five or more six times.

Anaheim Ducks

The Ducks landed in Edmonton just to get lit up for six goals versus McDavid and co. John Gibson was between the pipes for the first five goals but was pulled five minutes into the third after facing 36 shots. Anaheim managed 36 attempts of their own but could not find the back of the net, getting shutout for the fifth time this season. Frank Vatrano was their best player last night, getting six shots on the net and throwing six hits in 17:25 of time on the ice.

This was the seventh straight loss for Anaheim and the third in a row where they were held to a goal or less.

Their leading scorer, Trevor Zegras returned to the lineup versus Edmonton after missing their previous game with a lower-body injury. The 22-year-old has 59 points (22G 37A) through 75 games, two less than last seasons career high after the same number of games.

Calgary Flames

The Flames stayed scorching hot on Friday night, rallying to beat the Vancouver Canucks 5-4 in overtime for their third straight victory. The team’s leading scorer, Tyler Toffoli (33G 36A) scored his second of the game in the extra frame, playing the hero and completing the comeback for Calgary. Jacob Markstrom got the nod in goal for the fourth straight game and stopped 16 of 20 shots for his 22nd win. Markstrom is slightly turning his season around but is still stuck with a lacklustre .890 save percentage.

Calgary is in an absolute dog fight for that final wildcard spot in the West, sitting just two points behind the Winnipeg Jets and one ahead of the Nashville Predators. The Flames have a chance at both teams before the season ends, which could lead them to a “win and you are in” situation.
