Arizona Coyotes vs. Winnipeg Jets Prediction, NHL Odds
The Coyotes are coming off a 3-2 victory in Columbus on Thursday night, and trail just two points back of third-place Winnipeg in the divisional standings. However, the Coyotes have managed to record consecutive wins just once through their first 16 games of the season. The Jets escaped with a 3-2 win over Buffalo on Friday, and have now claimed victory in five of their past six contests.
The Jets hit the ice as -160 home favourites on the Saturday NHL odds, and are pegged as a short +145 bet on the puckline. The Coyotes lag as +135 underdogs, and the total is listed at 6.5.
Coyotes vs. Jets NHL Betting Odds
The Coyotes have filled the net during a 3-1-0 run that started with a 5-3 victory in Arizona on November 4. The club has averaged 4.67 goals per game during that surge, and now rank sixth in the NHL with 3.63 goals scored per game. The Jets’ recent scoring outburst has powered a 5-2 run for the OVER in totals betting, and has lifted them to victory by multiple goals in seven of their nine wins to date this season.
Winnipeg’s victory over the Coyotes earlier this month extends their head-to-head win streak to seven games. The Jets have limited the Coyotes to just 12 total goals during that stretch. However, this season’s edition of the Coyotes has shown signs of returning to respectability during an 8-6-2 start. And while this club has struggled to record consecutive wins, they have suffered just two losses in regulation over their past nine games.
Arizona Coyotes
Connor Ingram emerged as the star once again in Thursday’s victory over the Blue Jackets, turning aside 39 of 41 shots to claim his fifth victory in as many starts. However, Saturday night’s expected starter Karel Vejmelka has fared nowhere nearly as well. Vejmelka has surrendered four or more goals four times while going winless over his past five starts. That includes a shaky performance at home against Jets, stopping just 22 of 27 shots in this month’s 5-3 loss.
Promising teen Logan Cooley snapped a six-game scoring drought with a power play marker on Thursday, and has now picked up four points over his past three games. Lawson Crouse contributed the game-winning marker, bringing his goal total to seven over the past eight games.
Winnipeg Jets
Another shutdown performance by Connor Hellebuyck, who turned aside 26 of 28 shots in Friday’s win over Buffalo to improve to 4-1-0 over his past five starts. However, like Arizona, Winnipeg’s hot hand will enjoy a night off on Saturday night, as Laurent Brossoit takes over the crease in just his fourth start of the season. Brossoit has produced middling results in his limited appearances, going 1-1-1 with a goals against average of 3.25 and a save percentage of just .872, and has been tagged with the loss in two of his four career starts versus Arizona.
Fortunately, the Jets have been getting steady offensive production from their top shooters. Kyle Connor was held off the scoresheet on Friday night after generating eight goals and 13 points over his previous six outings. Cole Perfetti’s breakout season continued with a goal on Friday night. The 21-year-old has picked up 10 points during an eight-game points streak, including goals in each of the past five games, and is a solid +120 bet on the NHL player props to record OVER 2.5 shots for the fourth time in six games.
