Vancouver Canucks vs. San Jose Sharks Prediction, NHL Odds
These Pacific Division teams are close in the division standings, with the Sharks (11-10-3) sitting fifth, and the Canucks (10-12-2) sitting seventh.
These rivals have yet to face each other this season, but this contest will kick-off the first of four meetings this year. To get you ready for the action, here is our Canucks vs. Sharks preview and prediction.
Canucks vs. Sharks NHL Betting Odds
The Vancouver Canucks and San Jose Sharks play four times per regular season as Pacific Division opponents. Vancouver has absolutely owned San Jose, with an 18-2-0 record dating back to April of 2019
On the NHL puck line, Vancouver is 11-13 while San Jose is an impressive 17-7. As for game totals, the Canucks are 18-5-1 to the over, while the Sharks are 10-14-0.
Vancouver Canucks
The Vancouver Canucks continue to see troubling times within the franchise. In the last five seasons, they have made the playoffs just once, which resulted in a second-round exit. So far this season, they sit seventh in the Pacific Division, and thirteenth of sixteen teams in the Western Conference.
Injuries are piling up for Vancouver. Both of its top two goaltenders are injured, but starter Thatcher Demko is at least travelling with the team on this road trip. His injury is still a major concern. They are also without Filip Chytil, Teddy Blueger, and Derek Forbort, hurting their already weakened depth.
Time is running out for this team with much greater expectations than the results have shown. They’ve kicked this road trip off with a win, but can they do it again?
San Jose Sharks
The San Jose Sharks have been an incredibly fun team to watch. This young team is led by phenom Macklin Celebrini, along with studs Will Smith and William Eklund. However, their most recent game against the powerful Colorado Avalanche ended in a 6-0 loss, so expect a major effort here.
San Jose’s forward depth is slightly limited with Jeff Skinner and Michael Misa out, but this should not be a major factor in the game.
While they are currently outside a playoff spot, this up and coming Sharks team has shown it can not be taken lightly in any game.
NHL Prediction: Who Will Win Canucks vs. Sharks?
These teams have been interesting to watch for many reasons this season and should give us a close finish on Friday. Vancouver is seen as a favourite on the road, and that is who I expect to win. The Canucks are coming off a huge 5-4 victory on the road against a surging Anaheim Ducks team, and I believe a struggling team could always use a long road trip to build and regroup as a team. I expect their momentum to continue in a 4-3 win.
