Vancouver Canucks vs. Winnipeg Jets Prediction, NHL Odds
Amid a season-high three-game losing streak, the Winnipeg Jets look to break out of their slump Thursday night by hosting the Vancouver Canucks.
The Jets are the -162 favourite to win on the NHL odds with the total set at 6.5.
Canucks vs. Jets NHL Betting Odds
This will be the second season meeting between these teams, with the Jets beating the Canucks 5-1 earlier this month on the 17th. Secondary scoring took over for the Jets in that one, with a pair of goals from the blue line and two from players in their bottom six, while Pierre-Luc Dubois had three assists in the outing.
This matchup has been pretty even since 2021 with each side winning seven games in their 14 meetings since then. 10 of those 14 games were played the Under with Winnipeg outscoring Vancouver 40-32.
Vancouver has scored at least five goals in every game during their current three-game win streak, covering in each contest and boosting their record ATS to 16-18 on the season. They have scored over the total in 20 of their 34 games played so far this year.
The Jets’ most recent loss was their seventh straight contest to play the Under, putting them 11-22-2 on the season. The offence has been sluggish being held to two goals or less in four of their past five games. Their record ATS could use some improvement sitting at 21-24 this season, but they have split the results 5-5 in their last 10.
This contest will feature a Canucks offence scoring 3.5 goals per game (6th in NHL) up against the best defensive team in Canada, who allow only 2.6 goals per game (4th in NHL). A true test for both sides.
Vancouver Canucks
The Canucks rolled to their third straight victory on Tuesday night with a 6-2 win over the San Jose Sharks. Vancouver’s leading goal scorer, Bo Horvat got them on the board first and never looked back, picking up another in the third period and adding two assists four his second four-point game in a row. Ilya Mikheyev would do his part in the win as well scoring a goal and adding three assists four his first career four-point game. Elias Pettersson would get on the board as well to extend his point streak to three games. He has eight points (3G 5A) in his last three games and leads the team with 42 points.
Vancouver has stuck to its core so far and it seems as though its darkest days are behind them. They have won seven of their past 10 games and are beginning to get things in order, just five points out of a playoff spot. If they want to take the next step, they have to stop giving so many goals though. They are third highest at 3.8 goals per game.
Winnipeg Jets
The Jets took their fourth consecutive loss Tuesday night at home, 4-1 to the Minnesota Wild. Winnipeg took an extended holiday break, allowing the Wild to take a 2-0 lead before the midway mark of the first period. Pierre-Luc Dubois would then respond with his 16th goal of the season before the end of the first to cut the lead to 2-1. That would be all the offence the Jets would muster up though, as the Wild would score one in the second and topped it off with an empty netter for a 4-1 final.
Kyle Connor (15G 24A 39P) and defenceman Josh Morrissey (6G 34A 40P) each notched an assist on the goal from Dubois (16G 22A) as the trio continues to drive the offence for the Peg.
Winnipeg has been much better on home ice this season, posting a 12-6 record at Canada Life Centre. They will have to snap their current skid without 20-year-old Cole Perfetti who will be out for the rest of the week with an upper-body injury.
