Vancouver Canucks vs. Anaheim Ducks Prediction, NHL Odds

The Vancouver Canucks head down to California this week for a pivotal road trip that begins with the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday night. Trade rumours are swirling in the Vancouver market after a trio of multi-goal losses last week, putting the Canucks near the bottom of the Pacific Division at 9-12-2. The story of the 2025 Anaheim Ducks so far is the exact opposite. Anaheim surprisingly leads the Pacific with a 14-7-1 record and their rebuild is over.

Puck drop at the Honda Center gets going at 10 p.m. EST with Anaheim -175 on the moneyline and the over-under at 6.5 on the NHL odds.

Canucks vs. Ducks NHL Betting Odds

Wednesday’s a match made in heaven for overs bettors. Vancouver’s 3.74 goals against per game ranks dead last in the league, while the Anaheim Ducks are scoring at will and rank second in the NHL with 3.59 goals per game. The Canucks have had 11 of their last 12 outings finish over the total and they’ve allowed at least four goals in six of their last seven showings.

The Ducks could be a cure for a struggling Canucks squad though, as 10 of these teams’ last 11 meetings have gone in Vancouver’s favour. The Ducks have scored just 19 times total in their last 10 times playing Vancouver, but the way this season’s going for both clubs indicates that sub two goals per game average is going to get bumped way up after Wednesday.

Vancouver Canucks

Vancouver’s goaltending issues keep growing as Kevin Lankinen won’t be travelling with the team on this road trip due to personal reasons. Lankinen’s played in eight of nine games since the injury to Thatcher Demko, who also remains out. Jiri Patera has been recalled and is likely going to be between the pipes at Anaheim. In nine career NHL appearances, Patera is 3-4-1 with an .892 save percentage. Nikita Tolopilo is also travelling as the Canucks’ second goalie.

Vancouver’s going to require extra support on offence and it looks like if it’s going to happen, it’ll start with Elias Pettersson. The high-paid forward has five goals in as many games for the Canucks and is now second on the team with 20 points in 23 games. Quinn Hughes leads the team with 23 points and has 13 assists this month.

Anaheim Ducks

We could be witnessing a historic season from 20-year-old Leo Carlsson. The 2023 second-overall pick leads Anaheim with 29 points in 22 games so far which is right on pace to reach Teemu Selanne’s franchise record of 109 points in a season. The performances of Carlsson and leading goal-scorer Cutter Gauthier have especially factored into the Ducks’ turnaround this season; both are entering Wednesday’s tilt on point streaks of at least three games.

Anaheim enters having won three of their last four outings, with Lukas Dostal in net for all three victories. Dostal has turned into quite the workhorse this season with 17 starts in 22 games for the Ducks but this could be a good spot for veteran backup Petr Mrazek to get in the net against a struggling Canucks team.
