The Vancouver Canucks and Anaheim Ducks are nowhere near playoff contention and are simply playing out their regular season.

For the Ducks, that finish line can’t come fast enough. They’ve lost 11 straight games and have looked like a team that’s packed it in. Is there any reason to bet them in this spot or is Vancouver the easy play?

Canucks vs. Ducks NHL Betting Odds

The Canucks are in a back-to-back in this spot but are just 6-5 in that role this season. They are also just 16-22 on the road with a total of six or more and 5-9 on Tuesdays.

As for the Ducks, they have lost 30 of their last 43 games – including going winless in their last 11. They are 9-39 after allowing four goals or more in their previous game and 7-17 against the division.

Vancouver Canucks

The Canucks had hoped that this would be a positive rebuilding year but that wasn’t the case. After going 40-30-12 last season, this year’s team is going to finish with at least a couple less wins.

The Canucks have won two of three but beating an awful Chicago team and a slumping Calgary squad isn’t anything to write home about. The Canucks were blanked 3-0 by the Los Angeles Kings on Monday and now find themselves in a back-to-back on the west coast.

If you’re looking for some bright spots, consider that the Canucks are 15-10 against the division this year, which is a positive. They’ve also won 10 of their last 16 against teams with a losing record, so that’s also decent. The question is motivation as they don’t have much to play for here.

Anaheim Ducks

The Ducks have all but tapped out. They’ve been one of the worst teams in the NHL this season and their decline has only accelerated in recent weeks. The team has lost 11 straight games and the only reason they’re even worth considering for a bet here is they’ve showed some signs of life recently. In their last two losses, they’ve at least pushed their opponents to overtime. Before that, they had been outscored 29-10 in their six prior losses.

The Ducks are rolling with Lukas Dostal in net these days and he’s been inconsistent. In his four starts this month, he’s allowed two goals or less in two of the games, and five or more in the other two. He’s made 16 starts this season and allowed four or more goals in seven of those games.

It’s tough to find any logical reason to bet the Ducks but over might make sense. They tend to give up a lot of goals and play a lot of high-scoring affairs. Three of their last four games have seen at least nine goals.
