Vancouver Canucks vs. Arizona Coyotes Prediction, NHL Odds

Vancouver will be looking to end the season on a good note with back-to-back wins over a pair of bottom-feeding Western Conference clubs.

Arizona has had a tough past few weeks, going 1-8-2 to end the season. The only bright spot for the Coyotes this season has been 24-year-old Clayton Keller putting up 85 points, putting him one point behind Keith Tkachuk for the best offensive season in ‘Yotes history.

The Canucks are listed as the -153 favourite to win on the NHL odds with the total sitting at 6.

Canucks vs. Coyotes NHL Betting Odds

Both meetings between the Canucks and Coyotes this season have ended at 3-2 with each team taking a win. Arizona has managed to cover in both games while they played under the Total both times. In the midst of a career year, Elias Pettersson has picked up four points so far in this series leading the way for the Canucks. Vancouver has not had good luck as the road team in this head-to-head, winning just once in their past five visits to the desert.

Each of Vancouver’s past four games has hit the Under, bringing their total on the season to 43-30-8 on the Over/Under. In the first half of the season, the Canucks were one of the highest-scoring teams in the lead, but since Rick Tocchet took over coaching duties, they have dropped down to a modest 3.3 goals-per-game average. Despite putting together a decent stretch of hockey, going 3-3 in their past six, the Canucks only managed to cover the spread once. They still boast a pretty good 45-36 record against the spread.

Arizona has had some real struggles lately, winning just one of their past 11 games. Their schedule has been tough, playing against a playoff team in nine of those games. Dropping all of their past six against the spread has bumped their record down to 44-37 ATS. The offence has dried up in the desert too, scoring more than two just once in their past six games. Five of their past seven matchups have played the Over and they are to finish the season at 40-47-4 on the Over/Under.

Vancouver Canucks

The Canucks got back in the win column on Tuesday night, squeaking out a 3-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks for their third win in their past four outings. A pair of powerplay goals from Brock Boeser (18) and Andrei Kuzmenko (39) put Vancouver ahead in the first period. The Ducks answered with a goal of their own before the end of the first and another in the second, before J.T. Miller scored his 31st of the season, which would stand as the game-winner.

The most significant milestone in the game was Elias Pettersson picking up a pair of assists for his 100th and 101st points of the season. He is now one of only six Canucks players to hit triple digits in a single season.

Currently sitting in 22nd in the league, a Canucks win on Thursday could move them ahead of the St. Louis Blues for 21st. It does not mean much, but Canucks fans must be happy that the worst is behind them, hopefully.

Arizona Coyotes

After snapping a nine-game losing streak on Saturday, the Coyotes fell right back into their old ways, losing to the Seattle Kraken 4-1 Monday night. Arizona looked promising out of the gate with Jack McBain (12th) scoring midway through the opening frame to give the ‘Yotes the lead. The Kraken would come storming back in the second though, scoring four consecutive goals to take the win.

Goalie Ivan Prosvetov, who has started four of Arizona’s past five games allowed four goals on 37 shots. Through seven games this season Prosvetov is 4-3 with a .880 save percentage, making the 24-year-old the only goalie on their roster with a winning record.

Thursday night’s season finale could be the final NHL game played at Mullett Arena, where the Coyotes have posted an impressive 21-15-4 record. The magic of the 4,400-seat arena has worn off recently, dropping five of their past six games on home ice.
