Vancouver Canucks vs. Arizona Coyotes Prediction, NHL Odds

It’s a back-to-back spot for the first-place Canucks, who are now only five points ahead of Edmonton for the Pacific Division while having two more games played than Edmonton too. The Canucks fell 6-3 at Vegas last night, the start of a three-game road trip.

A well-rested Coyotes team awaits Vancouver too as Arizona last took the ice Saturday against the New York Rangers. After a disastrous February that pushed the Coyotes out of playoff contention, Arizona’s picked up their game as of late with five wins in their last eight outings.

Puck drop at Mullett Arena goes at 10 p.m. EDT with the Canucks a -160 moneyline favourite on the road and the total at 6.5 on the NHL odds.

Canucks vs. Coyotes NHL Betting Odds

With yesterday’s 6-3 loss at Vegas, the over improved to 21-13-3 when the Canucks are on the road this season. But Vancouver’s dipped down to sixth in scoring with 3.44 goals per game and lately it hasn’t been prevailing them to strings of victories. Over their last nine outings, the Canucks have failed to score more than four goals in a game and they’ve hit that number just once. Arizona’s the opponent to break that trend though. The Coyotes allow the seventh-most goals per game this year at 3.35 a contest and are coming off an 8-4 win and 8-5 loss last week.

Head-to-head, Vancouver’s 6-1 in their last seven meetings with the Coyotes. Wednesday’s the second of three meetings this season between these clubs. Vancouver took the first one by a score of 2-1 on January 18.

Vancouver Canucks

Vancouver’s now dropped three of their last four contests and the lone win came after escaping a comeback from 14th-place Anaheim on Sunday. Problem number one is the Canucks can’t take the top off. And that’s they were often doing when leading the NHL in goals. Elias Pettersson’s scored twice in his last nine games and has gone without a point in four straight. Brock Boeser’s coming off a three-goal month in March too. Boeser and Pettersson make up for two of the Canucks’ three 30-goal scorers this season.

Casey DeSmith started last night in net and allowed six goals on 30 shots. Although Vancouver’s in a back-to-back, don’t be surprised if it’s DeSmith in net again against Arizona. Without Thatcher Demko still out, DeSmith has taken on a large workload and his backup Arturs Silovs played his first game of the season this past Sunday.

Arizona Coyotes

If the pattern sticks, it’s time for another eight-goal performance from the Coyotes. Last Thursday Arizona went off for eight goals and doubled up Nashville, but fell 8-5 to New York two days later. Clayton Keller is red hot in the offensive zone, tallying 10 goals and six assists last month while riding an eight-game point streak. Veteran forward Nick Bjugstad has goals in four straight contests and is three goals shy of his career high of 24 set back in 2014–15.

But arguably the talk of the town in Arizona is Josh Doan. The son of legendary Coyotes captain Shane, Josh has points in all three games since joining the Coyotes last week including a two-goal outing in his NHL debut.
