Vancouver Canucks vs. Arizona Coyotes Prediction, NHL Odds
Arizona has picked up their play recently, winning their past four games played at home in Mullett Arena. They are also riding a season-high five-game point streak, with their past three contests needing extra time.
The Canucks are listed as -151 favourites to win on the NHL odds with the total sitting at 6.5.
Canucks vs. Coyotes NHL Betting Odds
The Canucks took a 3-2 overtime win over the Coyotes in their first meeting of the season back in December. Both rosters have gone through major changes since then, with only two goal scorers from that game playing in Thursday’s matchup. Early bettors are already split 50-50 on the moneyline as well as the Over/Under. In their past four matchups, the favourite has won every time, but the home team is 5-2 in the past seven.
Vancouver is playing their best hockey of the season right now under new head coach Rick Tocchet. They are still second in the league in goals against per game (3.8), but they have only surrendered more than three goals twice in the past 10 games. They have a 36-30 record against the spread and have covered in eight of their past 10 outings.
Arizona is 4-1 in their past five games while covering the spread in each of them, boosting their record to 38-30 ATS on the year. They have averaged 2.8 goals per game this season (27th in NHL), but with their recent success, the goal-scoring has improved to 4.2 per game over their past five. In the past 10 games, they have played the 6-3-1 to the Over and are now almost even at 34-32-2 this year.
Vancouver Canucks
The Canucks have dominated in back-to-back games, winning 5-2 both times to increase their win streak to five straight. They hosted the Dallas Stars on Tuesday night and got ahead early thanks to Phil Di Giuseppe’s third of the season just over a minute into the game. Andrei Kuzmenko would net his team-leading 33rd goal on the power play before the end of the first and the Canucks would carry the momentum for the win.
Brock Boeser put up three assists in the game, but no Canuck has been hotter than J.T. Miller, who picked up two points (1G, 1A) for the third game in a row.
Thatcher Demko has been great in goal since his return from injury. He has not allowed more than two goals in any of his past five starts, posting a 4-1 record and a .930 save percentage.
Vancouver will open a three-game trip Thursday in Arizona, looking to improve their 13-15-4 record on the road. They currently sit in sixth place in the Pacific and it looks like that is where they will likely end the season.
Arizona Coyotes
The Coyotes will look to string together three wins for just the third time this season on Thursday when the Canucks come to visit. The ‘Yotes current five-game point streak is a season-high, after most recently taking down the Calgary Flames on Tuesday night by a score of 4-3. Travis Boyd (12) played the overtime hero, while Clayton Keller (2G), Juuso Valimaki (2A) and Barrett Hayton (2A) each had two-point nights. Goalie Connor Ingram faced over 40 shots for the fourth straight game but stopped 42 to snap a four-game winless skid.
Keller has been on fire lately, riding a six-game point streak of six goals and six assists for 12 points. With 71 points on the season, the 24-year-old has already smashed his career-high of 63 set last season.
Mullett Arena has proven to be a difficult environment for visiting teams to play in, as the Coyotes have an impressive 18-11-3 record at home. The Canucks will be visiting the 4,400-seat arena for the first time on Thursday and Arizona will look to take advantage.
