Vancouver Canucks vs. Boston Bruins Prediction, NHL Odds
Both squads are playing on a back-to-back tonight, with an odd 6 p.m. EST puck drop. Boston is the -227 favourite to win on the NHL odds with the total set at 6.5.
Canucks vs. Bruins NHL Betting Odds
The Bruins and Canucks met twice last season and each team won a game on their home ice. The matchups were close, both of which came within a goal, one even needing extra time.
Looking further back to 2018, these squads played seven times in that stretch. Four games hit the Over and the Canucks went 6-1 against the spread.
Over Vancouver’s past seven games, they have been trading wins and losses ATS, bringing them to an 8-7 record on the year. The Canucks are 10th in the league in goals-for (3.4) and are also third in goals-against per game (4) making most of their games high scoring and entertaining. They played the UNDER last night, but are 10-5 to the Over this season.
The Bruins have held their opponents to two goals or less in their past five games, putting them at a league-best, 2.2 goals against per game. They have been no slouch offensively either, leading the league in goals per game as well, at 3.93, giving them an impressive plus-27 goal differential. They have covered against the spread in their past nine games and are sitting on a record of 12-3 in that regard. Boston is riding a four-game under-trend and is 7-7-1 on the total this season.
Vancouver Canucks
The Canucks lost 3-2 last night in Toronto after being up 2-0 midway through the first. The loss dropped them to 4-8-3 on the year, down to 28th in the league standings. Blowing multi-goal leads has been the norm for Vancouver this season, as they have done it six times through the first 15 games.
Bo Horvat opened the scoring with his team-leading 13th goal less than four minutes into the game. J.T. Miller followed that up with a power play marker, giving Vancouver a two-goal lead in the opening frame.
Spencer Martin was pretty solid in goal, stopping 31 of 34 shots, but was hung out to dry at the beginning of the second period, allowing three goals in a 10-minute span. Martin and Thatcher Demko have been trading starts over the past eight games, mostly because Martin has outplayed Demko early in the season. Martin is 3-1-1 with a 3.38 goals-against average and a .902 save percentage, while Demko is 1-7-2 with a 4.01 GAA and a .874 save percentage. Bettors can likely expect Demko back in goal tonight.
Boston Bruins
The Bruins are the best team in the NHL right now, boasting a 13-2 record. They lead the league in goals-for, goals-against and penalty kill percentage.
Boston extended their win streak to three last night in Buffalo with a 3-1 win over the Sabres. They found themselves down 1-0 early in the game, giving up their first shorthanded goal this season. Boston was outplayed in the first half of the game, before Patrice Bergeron’s power play goal late in the second period turned the tides.
Defenceman Jakub Zboril then scored his first career goal, and the game-winner, in the third period before Bergeron added his second of the game to seal it for the B’s.
Keith Kinkaid made his Bruins debut in net and stopped 30 shots, playing only his second NHL game in two years.
Brad Marchand has been red-hot since his return to the lineup, picking up 10 points in seven games. He is riding a four-game point streak (1G, 5A) coming into tonight’s matchup. Marchand completes the Bruins’ top line with Bergeron and Jake DeBrusk. The line has been doing most of the scoring for the squad since being put together.
