The pesky Senators have been a thorn in the Canadiens side all season long.

Canadiens vs. Senators 4/1/21 Betting Analysis

Although they lead the season series 3-2, the Senators come in as the underdog tonight. Ottawa has been in last place in the North division since the season started, while Montreal has been barely hanging onto the fourth and final playoff spot. The Habs showed no signs of rust in their first game back Tuesday, shutting out the Oilers 4-0. The Sens will try and do the same as they return to action after a week-long break. 75 percent of our Sports interaction customers are placing their bets on the Canadiens.

Other than a 5-4 Senators shootout win, the goaltenders have stolen the show in the series, playing the under in all of the other four games. Ottawa’s past five matchups have all played the under as well as 7 of their last 10. The Sens have won against the spread 8 times in the past 10 to keep the games close despite going 4-3-3 over the stretch.

Montreal Canadiens

Montreal came out flying in their first game back after the COVID break, smoking the Oilers 4-0. The Habs have won two in a row now, for the first time in the entire month of March. Carey Price picked his 49th career shutout bringing his record to 11-5-5. Price is turning his season around winning three of his past four starts.

The Canadiens top line has been dynamite since being reunited by coach Dominik Ducharme. Brendan Gallagher, Tomas Tatar and Phillip Danault have combined for 16 points and all have a plus/minus of plus six through the teams last five. The Habs will be without leading goal scorer Tyler Toffoli for a third straight game tonight, he has been battling with a lower-body injury since March 19th. Forwards Joel Armia and Eric Staal will also be unavailable due to covid protocol.

Ottawa Senators

The Senators have not played since last Thursday when they lost to the Toronto Maple Leafs in overtime. The week break is the only pause scheduled for Ottawa this year and hopefully it will be what their offence needed to wake up. The Sens have scored five plus in a game only six times this year and they haven’t done it since a month ago on March 1st vs Calgary.

Ottawa’s net has been a revolving door this year, five different goalies have started at least a game for them. Most recently Filip Gustavsson has stolen the net. A 2-0-1 record combined with a 0.86 goals against average and .973 save percentage definitely softens the blow of losing Matt Murray. Forward Austin Watson underwent surgery to repair his injured thumb and he is hopeful to be back before the seasons end.
