Last night’s win broke a two-game skid and put the Canadiens just two points back of the wildcard spot in the East. Seattle is trending the opposite way losing eight of their past 12 games and sitting fifth last in the entire league.

The Kraken are the -140 favourite on the NHL odds, with the game total opening at an even 6 goals. The puck will drop from the Climate Pledge Arena in Washington at 10:30 PM ET.

Canadiens vs. Kraken NHL Betting Odds

It’s the Habs’ week for revenge after Seattle embarrassed them at the Bell Centre 8-2 in October. The Kraken lead the all-time series 4-3, outscoring the Habs 26-19. Their past two meetings both hit on the OVER, putting their all-time OVER/UNDER to 3-3-1. Whoever comes out on top in this head-to-head has covered the spread all seven times, and only one game was decided by a single goal.

Montreal has been great against the spread this season, posting a record of 36-28 in that column. They have covered in four of their past five games two of which came in losses. Seattle has not been great on the spread this season, going 31-34 and only covered twice in their past seven games.

Both teams have identical goal-scoring this season, averaging 2.94 goals per game. Seattle has been slightly better defensively so far, ranking one spot above the Canadiens at 3.22 and 3.25 goals against average respectively. Their records on the OVER/UNDER have been parallel as a result both hitting the OVER 31 times this season.

Montreal Canadiens

Juraj Slafkovsky had a game last night in Vancouver, putting together a three-point performance (1G, 2A) helping the Canadiens to a 4-2 win over the Canucks. The win snapped a mini two-game skid, keeping them in the Eastern playoff race.

Nick Suzuki stayed hot, opening the scoring with his 20th of the campaign just over a minute into the game. Slafkovsky (12th)  followed it up midway through the frame and Cole Caufield (32nd) got one in the third putting them up 3-0. The Canucks rallied for a pair in the third before Mike Matheson (6th) iced it with an empty netter.

The Habs’ dynamic duo of Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield are both on pace to set career highs this season carrying the weight offensively for the squad. Caufield is looking like he will score 40 goals for the first time, while Suzuki should have his first season with 82 or more points.

With a 6-1-1 record in their past eight, the Habs are one of the hottest teams in the league. Montreal will not be an easy win for the last 18 games as they chase the postseason for the first time since 2020-21.

Seattle Kraken

The Kraken have been struggling since offloading at the trade deadline, losing three of the four games making their moves. Their most recent loss, 4-2 versus the league-leading Washington Capitals, looked promising in the first half, leading 1-0 after the first and tied going into the third. They were held off the scoreboard in the third though and gave up an empty netter to end it.

Shane Wright scored his 15th of the season in the loss bringing his point total to 38 on the year. He has been a bright spot this season for a struggling Kraken squad scoring the third most points to date. The 21-year-old has four points (2G, 2A)  in the team’s past five outings skating on the second line.

The Kraken will be looking to open their three-game homestand with a win over a Canadiens team playing a back-to-back on the road. Expect to see Philipp Grubauer in goal for Seattle Wednesday as he had a good game his last time out stopping 23 of 24. The Kraken have also recalled 2020 second-rounder Jani Nyman from the AHL and he is set to make his NHL debut in this one.
