Canadiens vs. Jets Prediction: NHL Betting Odds
They are playing for two different reasons, but yes they will be playing. The Canadiens need all the points they can muster with only four games left in their season. The Jets know the Predators are right on their heels and do not want to fall out of first place in the Central division.
Canadiens vs Jets Betting Analysis
The Jets franchise is 21-34-7 against the Canadiens all-time and 3-4-1 at MTS. Earlier in the season, the Habs beat the Jets 5-2 in Montreal.
Overall, the Canadiens are 14-6 in their last 20 games against the Jets and the road team in this series is 4-1 in the last five games.
Over seems to be the way to go when these two teams meet. It has been in play seven out of the last eight games played and a perfect 4-0 in the last four starts in Winnipeg.
Montreal Canadiens
The Canadiens are in the fight for their playoff lives. With four games remaining the Habs find themselves a single point out of a post season spot. Here’s the toughest part; three out of there next four games are against current divisional leaders, and the fourth game against arch-rival Toronto who will likely part together another 100+ point season.
The team didn’t do themselves any favours Thursday night losing 6-2 to the Blue Jackets and watching Columbus climb over them in the standings.
The Canadiens are 5-4-1 in their last 10 games and are 18-17-4 on the road this year and 5-8 against the Central.
Winnipeg Jets
This will be the last regular season home game for the Jets as they close out the year on the road against four Western conference teams (three in the Central division).
On Thursday, the Jets did something they have done three times in the last month, they blew a significant lead. In this game, the team was up 4-2 with just over 14 minutes left, but watched the Islanders storm back with three third period goals including the game tying and game winning goals 33 seconds apart to lose 5-4.
There were a couple positives out of that game including the play of the third line with Adam Lowry and Brandon Tanev combining for three goals and three assists, and Blake Wheeler snapping a four-game point scoring drought registering an assist. Also, Jacob Trouba now has eight points in his last eight games. He also has 46 points on the season, which is a career high.
The Jets have now lost two games in a row, and are 5-5 in their last 10. They are 1-2 on this current home stand and have the fourth-best home record in the NHL this season at 25-11-4. They second-best power play at home in the NHL this season at 31.4 percent, and fourth overall at 25.5 percent.
