Montreal Canadiens vs. St. Louis Blues Prediction, NHL Odds

After picking up points in seven straight games, the Montreal Canadiens look to stay hot when they stop in St. Louis to face the Blues.

The Habs have not put together a stretch like this since the beginning of the season, but it has not come easily since the break, as they moved through the States of Florida and North Carolina.

St. Louis is getting caught on the back half of a back-to-back after getting back in the win column Friday night over the Vegas Golden Knights.

The NHL odds are favouring the Canadiens on Saturday at -130 on the moneyline. The total is set at six goals, with puck drop set for 4 p.m. EST from Enterprise Center in St. Louis.

Canadiens vs. Blues NHL Betting Odds

Saturday will be the second and last meeting of the season between St. Louis and Montreal, with the Blues taking the first game 4-3 in Montreal back in early December. Brayden Schenn and Dylan Holloway each had three-point nights in that one. The Canadiens made a late push in the third, but Jordan Binnington slammed the door to solidify the win.

Over the past three seasons, the Blues have won four of five games and hit the OVER in each contest.

Hitting the OVER in 25 of their 40 games so far has the Habs leading the league in OVERs. They have scored four or more in seven of their past 10 games. They have climbed to third in the league in scoring, averaging 3.38 goals per game. Their seven-game point streak has seen them cover the spread in seven straight as well, bringing their record ATS to 22-18.

The Blues are the lowest-scoring team in the league at just 2.5 goals per game. They scored two or fewer in seven of their past 10 games. Their defensive game is almost as bad as their goal scoring, sitting 29th in the league. They have hit the OVER in back-to-back games because of their poor play in their own end.

Montreal Canadiens

Thursday night’s game versus the Carolina Hurricanes was a coach’s nightmare, but an exciting one for everyone watching at home. Montreal’s early two-goal lead was quickly erased by four straight goals from the Canes by the first minute of the second period. The Habs did not show much panic though, responding with four goals of their own to take their second two-goal lead of the game 6-4. Carolina scored one with their net empty, before Lane Hutson (sixth of the season) sealed the deal with the team’s seventh of the night into the open net.

The Canadiens got scoring from all the way through their lineup, with five different players registering two points. Amongst those five was 21-year-old Juraj Slafkovsky, who has been on fire over the past six games, making the Habs’ second line one to be feared. The young Slovakian has 10 points in the past six matchups, bringing his season total to 30 points through 40 games.

With the goaltending situation in Montreal, the starter for Saturday is likely between rookie Jacob Fowler and the struggling Sam Montembeault.

St. Louis Blues

After back-to-back losses to end 2025, the Blues bounced back with a win to open the new year on Friday night, 4-3 over the Vegas Golden Knights. They fell behind 1-0 but rebounded quickly, tying the game 27 seconds later, a part of three straight goals to go up 3-1. They let their foot off the gas in the second half of the game, allowing the Knights to tie things up at three. Brayden Schenn emerged as the hero, scoring his ninth of the season with just 1:33 to go, to get the Blues back in the win column.

Joel Hofer was the starter last night and could have snatched the starting job from Jordan Binnington. Binnington allowed six in his last outing and has lost all of his past four starts. After being announced to the Canadian Olympic team, Binnington will be looking for any opportunity to prove himself worthy of the starting job for his country.

St. Louis’ recent struggles have dragged them down to fourth-last in the Western Conference. They are not completely out of the race, but with over half of the season in the books, the NHL futures board has their odds to make the postseason at +500.
